I kept staring at that ad, trying to figure out what it was you people were talking about.
After a while I realized that I turned off gif animation.
As for what I use, I made that clear in that other thread, but it seems to be somewhat similar to Aversion (only, I speak with more hatred, while he speaks with reason :D )
I agree with av.
It seems like a lot of people just think its cooler to use notepad. It's not.
you suck.
Anyway I use Frontpage if I'm trying to do something that is just screwing up for me in notepad.
oh yeah and lmfao at </p></p>

I use Arisesoft WinSyntax it works on most languages with hightlighting and is really small. Usually the first program i install after formatting my PC.

I use Dreamweaver MX2004, although I do my debugging in notepad...
use to use notepad to create pages, but to be truthful, I find DWMX2004 so easy to use now its not often i do much in notepad any more...
I think it is cricial to learn how to code HTML by hand...and absolute MUST! I dont care if you use DW, FP, HomeSite or what.... if you get an error (which WILL happen)...you need to understand what you are looking for to "tweak" and make fixes.
I write HTML in notepad and DM MX 2004 at work....mostly just basic remote/local viewing and HTML editing..not much of any backend stuff.
You can also look into a program caled UltraEdit I love it...
it will highlight your sytax like Dreamweaver does.. but it works with HTML, JavaScript, C++, C#, Java, .ASP...and ActionScript! =)
Just a basic text editor like notepad..but highlights all syntax..plus has BLOCK indenting..etc..etc...lots of features

I have to Out myself here, I own a legal bought and paid for Frontpage 2002. I find it easier for organising the individual componets that I do in flash and the upload/publish functions seem a cruise.
I often find that a bit of Editor/Notepad is the way to go, especially when you just want a peek and can't be arsed to have the whole FP open up. FP also shows up my mistakes and the auto features often give me an idea of how to do what I wanted to in the first place(kind of like looking in the back of the maths book for the answers).
I know DW is the way to go and I expect I will get there one day, but my first impression is that it is even more cluttered than the flash interface which does'nt leave much room to see the design. It must be that I have a limited ability to hold an Image in my head, I need to see it onscreen(17" at 1024x768 is my max). Further more I can find no really cheap courses of introduction to DW, I have tried the online stuff, but as an Oldie I benefit more from the Teacher/Student style of instruction.
Being as building Web Sites will always be my Passion/Hobby and not my Profession I am not sufficiently driven to learn the absolute best tools/methods immediately. I will learn, but my BMW, Semi-detached House, Skiing Holidays & Daughters Education do not rely upon it. Maximun respect for the guys who use "Insert fav. app." and for the results they achieve.
