Yes, Bill surely does like the 'tough' interviews. The only thing more infuriating on that network than O'Reilly is Hannity.
Of course they're both commentators, not reporters, so they're not held to any kind of journalistic standards.
It's like the aging white republican version of the Jerry Springer show.

Some people like low brow entertainment masquerading as "in depth" discussion, while others laugh at it for what it is, purely entertainment. A little like most TV news and current affairs nowadays, it's a business pure and simple, and bottom line is it's all about the ratings, however they can be gained.

People who don't watch O'Reilly with an open mind often take to the hype liberals say about him. I'm an independent just in case you ask.
O'Reilly is conservative on some things (the entertainment industry, economy, military) and liberal on others (environment, gay unions) so I can't really say he's a bomb thrower like say ...

O'Reilly is mostly fair, he's constantly saying "well, let's be fair and give equal time" or "let's stick with the facts and not partisan rhetoric".
Of course, he's not 100%, but he's more fair than most other commentators I've seen.
O'Reilly throws out tokens of fairness. He's a button pusher. Likes to get his guest riled up so he can make fools out of them.
I have a hard time deciding who acts more like a jerk, him or Hannity. If I were a staunch conservative I'd be embarassed to have those 2 representing my viewpoints. They make Limbaugh look reasonable.
We'll see exactly how fair he is. He's airing his interview with Bush today, tomorrow and WednesdayQuote:
