I think if the human race is still around in the next 500 years, many of our theories and laws that we believe to be fact will be looked back upon and laughed at. Just as we laugh at the people who said the world is flat.
I also think that the same amount of people are going to be looking back and laughing at many of the religions these days. We have long to go yet :)
I don't think people will laugh about them, the same way as nobody laughs about Newton, but we know that both, Einsteins relativity and quantum mechanics are only a subset of the real law(s). Not to mention that many people still have a problem with accepting some of the fundamental implications of quantum mechanics, but that was to be expected from a theory where even some of the best scientists (like Einstein) did'nt really understand it and where some of the leading quantum mechanics scientists sayd that "if you think you understand quantum mechanics then you did'nt understand quantum mechanic" and where some of the recent experiments have shown that the implications are even more "phantastic" then even the meta-physics people have thought.Quote:

If we continue to advance at the pace we have been (look at how far we have come in the last 200 years alone), it won't take 500 years before present knowledge is looked upon as a 'quaint' example of human reasoning. But, I doubt it will ever be laughed at, as the modern basis for all of our exploration is the assumption that we don't really know: a much different starting point than that we are the center of all creation and the subject of every force.Quote:

Religion, I'm afraid, is here to stay. It will be forced to change as times do, but I doubt it'll ever really fade away. It does have its uses and does provide some good to humanity, when treated respectfully and not abused to justify questionable actions.
I'd bet we'll start to see most religions becoming more moderate and inclusive as time wears on; not to say the transition will be easy, religion will most likely have to be dragged kicking and screaming each step by those who really do feel a need for spirtuality in a time of increasing reason and outdated social and moral codes.

I always find it interesting when people put restrictions on what god can and can not do, such as not being able to create something out of nothing. Any god that has to human notions and laws isn't much of a god at all.

God created many people and guided each into believing that he loves them more, causing many people to die, jewish christian whatever, most religions will either kill or be killed because of there belief in god.
So because there is only "1" god(im laughing at this right now because theres at least 3) then he intended to have people fight it out, and whoever can convince enough people to choose there version of him will win and be called the "good" guys, and everyone else will be "evil".

Right now there are two big theories that together are able to explain most things (not all), but both can only be used for what they're good for. If you use quantum mechanics to calculate how a big mass moves through space, then you will just get nonsense back as the quantum mechanics have no representation for gravity. If you use Einsteins theory to calculate the path a photon will take, then you will just get nonsense back as Einsteins theory has no definition of quantum effects in it.
We simple have'nt found the one and only fundamental law till now and so we need to use different theories for different things. That doe'nt meen at all that the fundamental law that we just havent found till now has ever changed.
