Just joking, the coffee lounge seems a little dull today.
milk in tea... how British.
you'll find that only in the Caribbean in the once British enslaved portions. In the US, after we threw that impromptu tea party, it's surprising it's not sold here with a premium price attached to it.
The food? He's in Denver. Stop going to Denny's and the like.
you're probably right, anyone know of some good places I recommend for food/culture in Denver?
He's probably having withdrawals from the lack of kangaroo meat and crocodile stew

np. not really a "culture" type of place but good for the steak enthusiast. i recomend the brie appetizer (or the lobster tempura if you want to go crazy) and the bone-in fillet as the main course. i would recomend the crab legs instead but probably not as good in Denver.Quote:

The US seems to be in the tend of less is more when it comes to dining in and huge is best in hamburger joints. Do a look up on "denver steak houses" in google and you will him a place to get a good steak and a "bea".
For coffe go to Starbucks or coffeePeople, I guarantee they have good tea, coffee and cream.
yea the whole milk coffee thing is very complicated here in the states.
For example, if you order a coffee, and you want milk, you have to say something like "I'll have milk with that"
OR
you might have to say something crazy like "coffee with cream please", or even "I'll have a cafe latte". Once you learn these strange subtle phrases and get the local dialect down it's easy from there.
Getting a cup of tea here is also extremely tricky. It involves going to a grocery store and walking to the aisle where they sell coffee and finding the shelf area which stores the tea. Then there's the long complicated process of taking the tea to the cash register and paying for it. Likewise, if you're in a restaurant, you have to say something like "I'll have a cup of tea please" and the waitress may or may not understand what you're talking about.
When you order tea, its usually just a tea bag and some water. Unless you go to a real earthy cafe or something where you can get a real cup of kettle tea.
I myself drink a load of tea. If Im in a hurry its like 4tea bags in a cup of water with sugar and milk. If I have time its usally brewed long and strong.

thanks guys, funny thing is, Dad freaked out he's like "That steak house is only a mile from here, how did you know about it?" Shall pass the information on, FK still rocks :)
a quick lesson in tea...Quote:

a little known fact is that the milk bonds with the esters in tea and "sticks" to the tongue thus giving more flavour.
of course, green tea's should be taken without milk as the taste is far more delicate.
and contrary to common belief, milk should be added afterwards.
the practice of putting milk in first was to stop cheap china cups from cracking, and invariably scalds the milk. :)
and also stains the porcelain
Thanks, but I had the UK tour about 2 decades ago. Milk in tea, regardless of reason... it's a nasty thought to me.Quote:

black coffee is the best. I think i've only had milk or sugar in it once or twice and i thought i was going to puke. People can't understand how I drink it black, but it's just something i've always done, without question.
