Great game, first time I played it though, in the first 3 seconds the AI waled over and I think cut my head off. Was I supposed to die that quick :S Great work any way really love the graphics.

Just to say again how awesome this is. Every time I come on flashkit, I play it again.
As I said before(happened to the enemy now), sometimes the decapitation doesn't work, though the troll comes out as if it did).
Wow!
Sweet remake, amigo. I won't go into all the bugs it has because I'm sure you've got them all in your sights for extinction.
Good job, it plays just like the original with top-class graphics. I hope when you're done with this one, you have a crack at number two, because that was the game that inspired me to beg my dad nonstop for 3 days to get me a C64 when I was a kid.
Well, if you ever get round to it and need a hand, just say the word. In fact, when I'm done with the project I'm on now, I might even have a go.
Yeah, great work Lux. I think you should define the spacebar as the attack button in the instructions page though.
Excellent! I remember wasting hours on this, 1-on-1, on the C64 (and I think Amiga too). Very nice update on the graphics and sound, plays like the original. My favorite bit, which I'm sure is on your to-do list, is where the goblin kicks the head as he drags the body off. Are you planning on including the evil wizard fight at the end?
Aaamazing! :smoov:
Will spend more time on it later this night. Well done :)

Hey !
Thanks guys, I'm happy to see that you enjoy it :)
I've made a small update :
http://www.luxgames.net/barbarian/screenshot4.gif
* Corrected the body localisation bug with the green gobelin
* Now, the gobelin will kick the looser's head
* added increasing level - around lvl 10 should be challenging, if you play nice ( I mean, ya'll know that there are tactics to corner the opponent and leave him no chance )
* added the missing other backgrounds ( volcano, forest, prisons ) - they are all randomized ...
* added, or moreso started a scoring system - regular hit, 50 pts, decap 200 pts - I will later rebalance the point for each attack, so that the easy ones repeted doesn't bring any score ...
to do list
- correct the bug that happens during a death, where the character is still controllable by computer / player
- add databased hiscores
- see what's causing the animation hickup when gobelin is dragging the body
- add an attack button for 2nd player ...
http://www.luxgames.net/barbarian/ (should be ver 1.60, the latest )
I will certainly not add Drax : this wasn't part of Slight's package, and I don't feel spending too much time on that ( minor, I think ) part of the game ( fun was in the sword fight, not the short fight against Drax )
and no, I haven't planned working on Barbarian 2 so far ( but who knows ...)
:)

Woah, it seems so much bigger now. Nice backgrounds... One thing that bothered me was the wait after each battle was too long, for a second I thought nothing was gonna happen.
Getting better and better.
Change the name to Barbarion, or something copyright free, then flog it and make a few bucks. You deserve a reward at least. Long live C64 remakes.
Couple of bugs you didn't mention;
a) The sword *chings* when you block even if the opponent is nowhere near. You need to set the sound-effect to only activate if the hittest between the enemy and protagonist is true.
b) Headbutt and Kick rarely work. 100-1 bet that this is the same keyboard handler flaw that I've encountered before where the SPACEBAR doesn't work in conjuction with some arrow key combinations. Try changing your attack key to CTRL and you'll see your all moves work like a charm. Funny that. Wonder what causes it.
c) When you cut off the guys head the sword dissapears too quickly. You could stick a pause in there and make the final frame linger a little for better effect.
They're all minor criticisms, man. It's close to perfect.
p.s. How did you make that light-through-the-curtains effect and the blood particles? Are they dynamic?
This is the best game that ever appear in fk in all the times
Lux, is that the atlantian sword?
yeah, a version of it ...
oh, and the light-through-the-curtains effects are just Flash gradients, transparent enough to give that illusion ...
