Adobe Wronged Me :(

So, I had to call back Adobe MYSELF yesterday after 4 days of waiting. (I was promised 48 hours max.) I get ahold of some crappy manager who was extremely rude. I brought up the point about the EULA and she kept saying, "Sorry sir, but I don't have the EULA memorized." So I kindly read her key points. She kept asking me to show her where it says that I CAN use it on two different platforms. To me, that shouldn't matter? The EULA is supposed to outline what I CAN'T do with the software. For example, it doesn't mention anywhere that I can't use the software to create porn with it, but I darn well would be allowed. Then I also brought up the case that if a salesman told me that I would also be getting a copy of Adobe Premiere with my purchase and I didn't get that, I would damn well want that copy of Adobe Premiere. I don't care what their policy is. That is what I was sold. It is their mistake.

Grrr! So I basically went at it with the lady on the phone for about a half hour about how unprofessional they are acting and how rude she is treating me. I asked several times to speak to her supervisor, (a level 3 guy) and she said that they don't do that. So apparently their Level 3 supervisors don't know how to use a phone. That made me extremely upset. Who the hell do you complain to if you have a problem with Level 2 then?!? She just didn't want to get in trouble for treating me like crap.

Adobe sucks right now. Great products! Horrible, horrible customer support. They definitely have ZERO backing of their employees. She kept telling me over and over again that she apologizes for their mistake, but there is nothing she can do about it. So basically she's telling me, **** you. I feel that I did the right thing my calling before hand about the issue before I made the purchase. So in the end, I'm being screwed for that.

It ends up, I'm going to get ANOTHER call back from Adobe Tuesday. If not, I will call on Wednesday, and I WILL talk to a Level 3 guy myself. Or if I have to, a freakin Level 4.

I always had higher hopes for Adobe.

I dont know why you would.... they are just PEOPLE after all..they consistently fail when put in moral tests. Why do they care?..its not them. They already have your money.

(should have recorded the mis-representation of their product that tricked you into buying)... then you cold have sent/emailed that to ANYONE.. products support.. BSA...etc.. evebn a lawyer if you wanted. :)

Sorry for the trouble.. but I expected NO less from a company like that.

Their number one aim is to make money. Customer service comes after that. Well, it seems so in this case anyway. And that, unfortunately, can happen too often when someone holds a virtual monopoly within an industry.

I'd go with the recording and/or publicising this through any available channels at this stage, you've tried the "proper" way. Nothing like bad PR to change a company's tune!

so now I see this and the EU problem for Adobe as big 'no-no's'

I wish I already had a really nice successful blog. I might try reaching out the story to a few people who already has a nice one to help spread the word.

Hopefully they'll see this demand and see that it costs them $0 to allow customers to install on both a Mac and a PC. Also, teach people not to trust customer service. Or EULA's apparently.

Oh well. Lesson learned. Maybe I will get to talk to someone kind enough Tuesday to just get me what I deserve, but I highly doubt it.

Any court would tell you, if you're not sure about something, get it in writing. Since they'd clearly do anything to get a sale, they'd have faxed you what ever you wanted. Don't know if a fax is binding or not but it's something.

There was a bunch of recordings on youtube about sprint not being able to do unit conversion. Does anyone know if anything ever came of that?

Please record the next call, I'd love it if you could get them to say, "Yes, we allow our employees to say whatever they want to make a sale with zero repercussions."

I remember reading about that. I think it's all here, but blogspot is blocked from work so I can't check for certain.

I wold just inform them that the call is being monitored and recorded for quality purposes like they do to us.

Im sure there are MANY MANY trivial, and cheap devices.. check radio shack.. cant be too much.. under $20.00 or so.

Adobe actually called me back today. I am receiving a complimentary copy of the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium package for my Mac free of charge in the mail. :)

Alls I wanted was a serial number, and they send me whole new discs and a box and everything.

In a recent unnamed thread I saw a third party supporter while attempting to explain why a certain potential user who was looking to get into the Flash game should choose this third party tool over Flash proper use lack of support as one of his reasons and that Adobe did not support or listen to it's customers or reply to support questions because they are the equal of an uncaring corporate behemoth and choosing this particular third party tool would be somehow put the users mind at ease as far as that goes.

At the time I knew it was bunk and now when I come across snippets like that I'll be sure to use your case as the example of how wrong a statement that is :)

Just to let you know, Adobe did not admit fault for anything they did. I mean, yeah, they shut me up, but they did not admit any fault with the staff for lying or about the EULA mentioning NOTHING about using the software on two separate platforms, so that is sort of still left in the blur and they just chose to ignore it.

So yes, I'm happy they fixed MY problem, but I have a feeling I won't be the only one having complaints like this. A lot of people I know have both a Mac and a PC and I just find it ridiculous that they don't support both on the same license. But whatever. I'm happy. The brand new copy will be going on Ebay for $1500! (Actually, no, but wouldn't that just be a slap in the face to Adobe, huh?)

In the end, I'm satisfied with the result even though it probably took about 8 hours of my time to get what I wanted, and they left me with a "We just want you to know that this is a one time deal ONLY" kinda thing. So I don't know how that will work for other people! :P Try it. ;)

That right there shows admission of being wrong. Lord knows there are plenty of companies that when it was all said and done all you'd have is your hand holdin your bum. With the cost of what that software is...I'd say although it wasn't pretty and was hard fought and completely due to your sticking with it...that they did in the end do right by you.

When protecting licenses and masses of users...I expect cracks to form in the walk now and then and some to fall in. As long as they get help climbing out when they prove they fell in through no fault of their own...I have faith in the company pulling em back up :)
