Sophie3D - general info
renderhjs and all
Thanks for the suggestions and the great demo. We'll look again into 3DsMax and see what we need to do for V9. There are quite a few questions too - not sure we can answer all of them...and we'll try and explain the answers so everyone can follow
- is self illumination supported?
----- No, not at the moment but it's one of the things planned for the next Version.
- alpha channels PNG 32 bit supported (24 bit RGB + 8 bit alpha).
----- Yes you can use a texture with PNG 32bit. If you place a 32 bit texture with transparency on a plane, that plane will be transparent: This can be a useful way to create a hole without using geometry.
- transparency in material definitions (hopefully in Bitmaps as well)
----- a material can be made transparent by setting the alpha channel in the modeling program, or alternatively you can use the 32 bit texture with alpha channel to make the texture transparent when rendering.
- gradient background
----- good suggestion, we'll put that on the list for the next version.
- base grid
----- for this, again for the next version, we are planning an OBJ viewer. This should make it easier to see and control the published output.
- Cinema4D and OBJ
----- Cinema4D does not export to OBJ in a way that can be read well by Sophie3D. There are, however, 3rd party plug-ins for Cinema4D that should solve this problem until we try and rewrite the Cinema4D import code. Please note the word "should" as we have not tried them.
