as+xml+lightwindow

....well, been banging away at this sincee my last post - still no nearer - managed to collect new error messages but nothing that gives anything away!

if I am to use externalinterface.call - do I need to strip the entire .js for the lightwindow into my html? or do I set some other js into the html to call up the lightwindow?

I really am lost now - anyone here able to hold my hand on this and show me the error of my ways? please?

the general idea is you create a named js function in the HTML head..

(that spawns the lightwindow overlay).. and you can then pass params into that 'function' as well (for size, caption..etc)

however.. I 'too' can NOT get it to work either.

Although I am using AS2.. I have tried

getURL() function..
ExternalInterface.call()...etc.

links work fine in regular HTML..but for the life of me.... I can NOT pass or call or trigger the modal overlay (lightwindow) for nothing!...

I know this is old thread.. but wanted to see if anyone had any direction on this?

at a guess, you might be having trouble sending a complex object back. you can wrap the entire JS function with parameters in a string in a Function function. this works:

i think your forgetting to instance a new lightbox tho - unless set, "myLightWindow" will be undefined - you need to instantiate a lightwindow first:

but I cant seem to add height & width params to it?if I do it breaks..but without..it goes full/default size each time...

there is no 'function' in the HTML head any longer that is being called from within Flash..

just the default trigger from the imported js scripts?

you're adding the lightwindow instance as if it were actionscript - i'm surprise it works at all (should error out):

you create the instance in actionscript, but reference it in javascript...

that needs to be part of the javascript string. i'd suggest ExternalInterface rather than javascript: protocol of getURL, and i'd also suggest using a Function function wrapper - makes the string ready for consumption by the js engine.

the example i posted is tested, and does accept params correctly.

and I see now the reference int he js string/call.

I tried many ways to use ExternalInterface().. (although I could have had a slew of other problems at that point)

but Im going to try yours..

as 'my' version takes only the params you see there.. I couldnt add width/height.

I dont see them in yours..but Im going to try and add them same way.
