I blame it on how regularly he's on TV. We've him on tv every day for 2 years as candidate obama and there's been no noticeable break. He's still candidate obama in most minds and making it harder for him to be taken seriously.
I can't get my head wrapped around the vehemency though. Do the republicans have a great alternative suggestion or something? Certainly they can't be standing on their parties track record... can they? :zombie:
Now that the same person who made the finance and banking sector go Global are in the White House. There's no way to make the difference between the 2 party since they both receive funds and guidelines from the same people. All they want now is politic to go global as well.
What we see here is public opinion control using the always ever changing Good/Bad opinion from one party to a another. Myths and fear are overdosed in stoopid humour made by night talk show that leaves the people as dumb as they were before the show. So sad to see how Americans are hitting the bottom low of dumbness and all that without even respecting the rules of their own god. ... In greed they trust many says.
So sad to see the hope of so many people controlled by crooks. Never forget that people who want to do good or think that they do good never see the devil or the bad side of things cause they cant figure it out at the first point. There's nothing harder for the brain to deprogram something you have always believe in.
The only tool we have against all of this is Internet. Since 90% of the media are corrupt. If people were able to see and hear a another side of the story, lets say Al-Jazeera english, maybe they would have a real opinion. Cause right now its prefabricated content ready to be swallowed and made using the same analysis constraints. Really, the actions that can be made to save USA are so thin that I am not sure of the outcome as well. The plan is so massive that I feel 1 year to late. But im 75% sure of the trend that is going on and that is a revolution.

The Geithner-And-Summers Plan (GASP) to buy toxic assets from the banks is rightly scorned as an unnecessary give-away by virtually every independent economist who has looked at it. Its only friends are the Wall Street firms it is designed to bail out.
Most of Obama cabinet is made of people from Wall Street. Money haven't been as near as now to control the politics of the world. Money is private and not public in any way. Therefore there's nothing fixed.
In a time of economic crisis, who do you want nearest to you? Wall Street people.
Look at the prior administration. They wanted to seek out oil... so the majority of that cabinet were from the oil industry.
When it was based on the gold standard, it was money that had a backing. Not the "made up" paper money we now have.
Yeah... sorta stole that from Zeitgeist. Sue me.

I say we choose a day where all of America makes a run on their banks just for a day.
I am sure if everyone did it they would go nuts but have fun trying to actually get all "your" money out of a bank. My friend had a LARGE sum of money in a bank once and wanted to take it all out but the bank would only allow him to take $2500 out on a daily basis. So we went there for over 3 weeks straight everyday taking that amount out.
Very rarely do I agree with Bill Maher... even partially...

If conservatives don't want to be seen as bitter people who cling to their guns and religion and anti-immigrant sentiments, they should stop being bitter and clinging to their guns, religion and anti-immigrant sentiments.
It's been a week now, and I still don't know what those "tea bag" protests were about. I saw signs protesting abortion, illegal immigrants, the bank bailout and that gay guy who's going to win "American Idol." But it wasn't tax day that made them crazy; it was election day. Because that's when Republicans became what they fear most: a minority.
The conservative base is absolutely apoplectic because, because ... well, nobody knows. They're mad as hell, and they're not going to take it anymore. Even though they're not quite sure what "it" is. But they know they're fed up with "it," and that "it" has got to stop.
Here are the big issues for normal people: the war, the economy, the environment, mending fences with our enemies and allies, and the rule of law.
And here's the list of Republican obsessions since President Obama took office: that his birth certificate is supposedly fake, he uses a teleprompter too much, he bowed to a Saudi guy, Europeans like him, he gives inappropriate gifts, his wife shamelessly flaunts her upper arms, and he shook hands with Hugo Chavez and slipped him the nuclear launch codes.
Do these sound like the concerns of a healthy, vibrant political party?
It's sad what's happened to the Republicans. They used to be the party of the big tent; now they're the party of the sideshow attraction, a socially awkward group of mostly white people who speak a language only they understand. Like Trekkies, but paranoid.
The GOP base is convinced that Obama is going to raise their taxes, which he just lowered. But, you say, "Bill, that's just the fringe of the Republican Party." No, it's not. The governor of Texas, Rick Perry, is not afraid to say publicly that thinking out loud about Texas seceding from the Union is appropriate considering that ... Obama wants to raise taxes 3% on 5% of the people? I'm not sure exactly what Perry's independent nation would look like, but I'm pretty sure it would be free of taxes and Planned Parenthood. And I would have to totally rethink my position on a border fence.
I know. It's not about what Obama's done. It's what he's planning. But you can't be sick and tired of something someone might do.
Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota recently said she fears that Obama will build "reeducation" camps to indoctrinate young people. But Obama hasn't made any moves toward taking anyone's guns, and with money as tight as it is, the last thing the president wants to do is run a camp where he has to shelter and feed a bunch of fat, angry white people.
Look, I get it, "real America." After an eight-year run of controlling the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court, this latest election has you feeling like a rejected husband. You've come home to find your things out on the front lawn -- or at least more things than you usually keep out on the front lawn. You're not ready to let go, but the country you love is moving on. And now you want to call it a whore and key its car.
That's what you are, the bitter divorced guy whose country has left him -- obsessing over it, haranguing it, blubbering one minute about how much you love it and vowing the next that if you cannot have it, nobody will.
But it's been almost 100 days, and your country is not coming back to you. She's found somebody new. And it's a black guy.
The healthy thing to do is to just get past it and learn to cherish the memories. You'll always have New Orleans and Abu Ghraib.
And if today's conservatives are insulted by this, because they feel they're better than the people who have the microphone in their party, then I say to them what I would say to moderate Muslims: Denounce your radicals. To paraphrase George W. Bush, either you're with them or you're embarrassed by them.
The thing that you people out of power have to remember is that the people in power are not secretly plotting against you. They don't need to. They already beat you in public.
I love reading comments by conservatives who respond to such articles.
"But he's taaaxing and speeending! No one's ever done that!"
I wonder what Karl Rove's drunk dials sounds like.
So, protesting, during the Bush administration, was a form of patriotism. But, now that Obama is in office, it's a charade and "nothing" other than venting and anger.
Of course there is anger and venting included in the protest. What protest hasn't included those things? But, I think it's wishful thinking to try and characterize the entire event based on the most outrageous signs and statements available.
What do you expect to see? Someone holding up an essay in 10pt font, discussing the problems with deficit spending? Bar charts?
The most amazing thing to me about that video was how obvious the reporters bias was and how frantic she was acting in attempt to "prove" how the protests didn't represent the American people. In fact, polls show that tax increases, the bailouts and stimulus spending are not popular. So, anger over those measures IS representative of a lot of people. Pretending that they are not is not journalism. It's propaganda.

Higher taxes are on the table. Surely, you are aware that, in our matrix-like tax-code, the income rates are not the only way to change effective tax rates. For example, one of the changes to the tax code that is apparently being considered by Obama is to tax s-corporations the same as sole proprietorships. That would be a huge tax increase that has nothing at all to do with the 3 to 5% that some seem to think is the be-all and end-all of tax changes.
Government taking ownership of banks. Nationalizing healthcare. Further nationalizing education. All of those things are what occur in a nation that is "becoming socialist." Are they not?
Case in point. PAlexC, is it fair to assume this statement characterizes your position also, simply because it is part of a broader criticism?
Conservatives love a parade? As opposed to liberals who are slow to protest and parade? You also might want to do some fact-checking about who pays what proportion of taxes here.
There have been all kinds of alternatives proposed. Do you really believe that there hasn't? A lot of the protesters were angry about Bush increasing spending also.
I think there is some truth to America dropping the ball on education. But, we haven't used the gold standard for a while now. It isn't true that gold is money. It used to be. Some people think it still should be. But, it isn't.
Just about everything he wrote is unfounded or false. His main point seems to be that he believes Republicans are upset because they are a minority. As if that is some kind of new revelation or static situation. Parties have gained and lost control of the White House back and forth since Lincoln. Sure, people aren't happy that they lost this time. Just like liberals weren't happy when they lost twice in a row. Nobody is worried that there won't be further elections and opportunities to change directions again.
53% Say Next President Likely To Be A Republican
heh. where are the alternatives? I noticed you didn't link to them.
Seriously? It's one thing to disagree with alternatives. But, to suggest that they don't exist and are not being argued for is really to admit to not trying very hard to know all sides of an issue.

As far as I know, you and I both speak English and there was not one falsehood in my statement at the time: you simply did not link to any articles that spoke of alternatives until now.
Now, which of those alternatives do you see as viable?
The alternatives are so heavily discussed, obvious and widely available that I didn't feel it necessary to list examples. Simply not passing those measures at all would be an alternative to passing them that many feel would have left us better off in the long run.
I do not have enough details to comment on the G-20 summit or Health-Status Insurance. But, the rest are all alternatives that I believe would be more effective at improving our economic situation than the solutions this administration has chosen.
In context of this thread, as I have cited, most Americans wanted an alternative to the "stimulus plan" that included more tax cuts and less spending.
