I also want to give you my opinion...
I think sub is on the right way... today the future of flash games are not to search in 3D because it is realy to slow.
But if the net will be faster and the computers grows up to an 800CPU and higher in most of the households then I think it is time for 3D.

I thought that you could make swfs that couldn't be imported? By the way, I like your game subway. Very cool. But you should make the guy pivot on the centre of his body instead of near the back. It would probably work a bit better. You should have some alert if you are in range to pick something up, maybe highlighting the item or something. Otherwise you dont know where you have to be. This is just constructive critism. These things do not ruin this fabulous game:).

I like the background and the logo symbol, I don't like the text though, I think it's too dark and doesn't match the BG very well...
Subway, just for curiosity, are you doing the gentrap game for your own pleasure only or you want to sell it or something?

... question anwser: I do it for myself, for my upcoming Flash 5 book and for the futuretown site. A special limited CD version will be released short after with some extra add ons like THE SOURCE CODE. (For not much more than I need to produce it - print cd-rom etc.)
Sub, man something does not fit with the last two pics. May be its me but i think this is not your style. I would sugest if you try KPT plug for Photoshop.

This game sounds awesome but i can't seem to d/l it!!! i go to the d/l and it doesn't d/l what's the problem??
It's maybe not my style from the past days, but thats life. Everyday the same thing is not very interessting.
I know, I have often use the KPT filters in the past and the last two are done with photoshop only effects (and some alpha chanell manipulation), but I really like this two. (But you are right, the first one is defenitly my style)

I've just downloaded Gentrap and i agree that we shall begin to see more role-playing games written in flash on the web - I think you'll find a lot of games will be based around your "engine" now - my only critisism is that the cartoon-ish graphics on the intro section is in complete contrast to the quite gritty and dark graphics of the actual game. I think presentation is really important to a game so I'd hate to see your work tarnished by this minor detail! otherwise - can't wait to see the final version!

Not bad SA4 - like it - JPEG quality is a little to bad.
For the intro style div: I think about it, but it's just an early preview at the moment and still a lot to do.

I'm really really really interested about your opinion about this one.
Hard work on the details, many working steps, interessting filter and alpha combination to make this 3D effect only with photoshop.
I don't now for what I've maked this one, but I think the end product rewards the invested time and it was that kind of working fun you don't have often with client projects.
Photoshop can be a really funny thing sometimes and a good alternation after - let me count - three years of flashing around.

Thanks. This kind of reaction is why I've done this pictures (and because I most like it to design none client things).
Give me enough money for an easy life and I design everyday pictures like this or inovativ or totally useless Flash movies and games.
But still nobody was that kind of neat to do that. (Peoples like Bill Gates have to read this, no problem for him, he just don't realise the difference, but dreams, dreams, only dreams)
The only real working thing with rules and must do things that I really like to do is to create this kind of games, with big story and emotions in it like I'm hopefully can do with this game - Gen Trap - and I hope I can do it that kind of good that everybody like it. I know some or most of you can't wait to see the final version (I can't wait to see your reactions) but it's a big - extremly bigger than every game I've done (some I've done in one day, PITFALL, UFO ...) and if you know how many person working at a game like Resident Evil or Parasite Eve - I know it from a similar game, 80 peoples have worked two years - ok I know I can't do one similar alone but I know I can do something like it without CG secuences and you don't will need 20 hours to play it to the end.
This threat was growing faster than I was thinking first, this give me the extra motivation to make it perfect. I have to do some other client thing, so don't worry if it takes a bit longer to the next version, but I do some updates from time to time. I think it's interesting for the "fans" to see the process of creating a big project like this (I implement the story text and some puzzle games at the end - this way it's at the release still interesting for those, who following the process)
Any question about programming, making the concept or things like special story tricks I want to use, like some kine of storyline AI (not real AI, just pre created actions at the right time to let you feal like it's kind of real) are welcome and I look that I can tell you whats going on with the code. I don't want to publish the code right now but I think if you know how it works you can do it for your self and you learn alot more like if I publish the code (and in this kind of big and sometimes "pro coding" game you can't take and use the code without serious knowledge).

Are you planning on interfacing this with a server somewhere? If so, how much data do you plan on sending the server . . and how much else would just be handled by the flash client.

A "save the game" is planned (for CD and web version). Realised with the same technic I've used on the http://www.flashotaku.com site.
The interface is a short ASP script which communicate with a VB-Script connecting a SQL database.
A second cookie based option is planned, too (for the web version). You can find a tutorial (in German) at http://www.action-script.com
At the moment I don't know how many data I have to save, still to early in development.
I'm searching at the moment some dark and atmospheric background sound loops. If you want to create one or more for the game please contact me via mail and your full credit will be in the game.

i just played the game and all i hafta say is WOW!!! i'll make you a sound loop but u need to be more specific about what u want. also how can u make a save game?? (like what's the code)
also what plug-ins and filters do u use in adobe and where can i get them because your pic are amazing

That is what I use when i need a save buttun in flash games or apps I make.
Photoshop PlugIns: I've used only the standart filters for this pics. You don't need special plugs to do that kind of images. Maybe I have to write a short tutorial if I have the time.
SwiffCanvas: I've downloaded the beta versions sometimes and there was some problems if you had actionscript in it, but I have to test the actual version now. Thanks for the tip.
Sound: I need this dark, atmospheric kind of background sound without melody or real rhytmic patterns, just something that creates an mysterious and dark touch for the games athmosphere.
