yeah, but cowboy boots, once broken in, are extemely comfortable and will last forever. While Timberlands will give you a year or 2 of service.

Me thinks you are over-stating the durability of cowboy boots to make your point. Resole 'em twice and that'll be about all she wrote for your cowboy boots.
:)
Anyway, Timberlands'll get you through the snow and ice, where as cowboy boots'll just see you slipping, sliding, with you ending up looking at the world from a whole new perspective - the floor.
;)
Are these the kinds of Timberlands you're talking about?

No, the ones I have are a little less 'worksite' than those, though I get your point. The ones you have in the picture (I always thought they were cool) could do some pretty lengthy service, easily on a par with cowboy boots.
I don't deny the durability of work boots, however they are a bit of an eyesore.
Now you're just getting into matters of personal taste.
:D
I like those Timberlands and wouldn't be seen dead in cowboy boots. Not that I dislike cowboy boots or think that people who wear them are weird (on some people, they look great), I just don't think they match the image of self I wish to project.
The reason I asked about those Timberlands is because in the US, in my experience they've always had that "I'm a gangster" connotation or that you wanted to be a rapper, or, even better were actually a rapper.
I always remember the tough guys who got into trouble wearing those, wearing them with khaki pants, huge shirts, those pillowy Starter jackets.
But in Brazil things could be totall different, I would guess that they are.

ahh see that is my problem. I wore them all through my early 20's, with just about everything. But now that I'm approaching 30, will I just appear goofy.Quote:

I tend to buy from young designers (online or local shops). When I was a photography student I shared a flat in London with a girl who was studying fashion design at Central St Martins. She designed most of my clothes, I did all the photography for her label (Shirley Wang), shows, portfolio and some modelling. We still keep in touch and she's planning a visit to NY next year which is cool :)
Shopping tip: go to student exhibitions/fashion shows. a) You get cool stuff and b) you get to help someone survive (artschools are very expensive).

Was it her that I saw (part of) a show about last time I was watching the BBC, being just about to break it big in the design world?Quote:

Lately I have been hitting up used clothing stores. Like last week, I found a pair of Abercrombie & Fitch pants for $3.87! They are in perfect condition! :D
Anyways I would be interested in getting links to smaller clothing companies if anyone has any. Also what are the big namers in the UK?
Rather narrow-minded. Funny, where I'm at now, only rednecks where them... means "I'm a card carrying member of the KKK to me"; if I allowed myself to follow stereotypes that is.Quote:

Only white kids wear those now.Quote:

No link, I'm afraid - it was last Xmas and I'm really pushing it to try and match up your friends name to the show. It was like a showcase piece that profiled outstanding individuals in their field. Mebbe someone else has seen it in rerun - you know it happened.Quote:

Could've been Vera Wang - Wang is actually the name that's ringing the 'I remember' bell.

My green 8-eyes from high-school lasted about 5 years. Wore them until the leather literally wore through and they fell off my feet. The sole was almost completely smooth and about 1/3 the thickness of what it originally was.
The blue suede ones lasted 4.
The black ones are going 5 this year, and still going strong.
and in all that time they never went out of style
it seems like everyone in this thread can talk to talk, but can you walk the walk?
Post some pics of you're everyday wear and we can really see who's a trendwhore, eh?
