The BBC has Lisa Simpson issues.
I saw some of the TV ads/animations in some news story or other, and it looks a bit better in action, but as a static logo it is pretty crap, worse than most.
Maybe it could be a creative challenge in the FK arena or something...to come up with some serious alternatives for the London Olympics logo.

Please note: this video contains flashing images.
Looks even worse in motion. Dreadful.
iv got a sweet idea, ill make it when i get home.
from that site, looks to me like they just made the logo from the top of their heads, then tried to come up with its fancy meanings later
.. which is pretty much bs except showing the year '2012'.

The 80's might be back now but I seriously hope it is gone 2012. Matter of fact, can we line people designing in the 80's style up and shoot them for their cruelty? That logo looks like an arial view of a traffic jammed intersection. And that commercial . . . I think I almost had a seizure.
that ad reminded me of the tv show called 'the word' which was shown late night friday nights back in the early 90s........... anyone remember that?
[uk only as far as i know]
is it the special Olympics??
The Olympics for dysfunctional graphic designers, including such events as the 1000 pixel drop-n-drag, the photoshop-put and that family favorite, the alt-tabathon
I did not realise Photoshop now costs £400,000 :)Quote:

stranger.... hows it going nw :)
This is the design firm that did the logo. I think that their own site may be just as bad if not worse than the Olympic site.
That's one bulging eyeball there...
face acne ftl
The eye should be blackened.
Wonder if I'll get £400,000 for my design?
The colours are nearly as tasteful.
Took me 4 minutes. Took the 'experts' a year. Either I'm amazingly talented. Or they're idiots...
The logo is completely pathetic.
:thumbsdow
Watch the language my friend. FK is g-rated. That image... not so much.
It took them a year because they claimed to have researched what consumers want. They just wanted to be cool. They should have taken a hint from all of the successful products on the market today that clean and simple is nice. As much as I hate Apple I think that they have one of the best marketing departments ever. There products and logos are so clean and simple that they catch your attention.
Well. We may not need a petition after all
Christ, this country is turning into more of a "nanny-state" every day
The seizure problem is only getting rid of the animated logo. They are still planning on leaving the static logo as is.
British people are fools when it comes to stuff like this.
It's a logo.
A crap logo, but a logo none the less. Ugly, yes, overpriced, of course.
But still just a logo.
But the furor is almost palpable, it's out of control.
So much so, that it's spilling over into other angles of life.
Yesterday, there was a proposition made to launch 'British Day'.
This was met with much derision, rather rude comments, etc., the jist of which was that after the government's destroyed British culture, they want to make a day to celebrate it.
Fair point - but for ****'s sake, why stop them from doing it? It was going to be an extra day off - yay, British Day, where's the beer?
Now, it'll probably get binned on the strength of the negative reaction.
You could offer a Brit a bag of £20 notes and he'd sneer that it should be £50s instead.
Bunch of narrow-minded ingrates.
british day? yes please!!
yeah i must say i kind of agree- the logo, yes it's pretty crap, and yes it's a bit outgareous how much they paid for it, but it is just a logo. people seem to be taking it really personally. it's as if people think the world is going to judge us and think we're all crap because we have a crap logo for the olympics. come on!!
The Olympics is a pretty big thing, and wherever it goes so follows that logo. It's a visual symbol of both what the Olympics themselves stand for as well as the people who are hosting it. What they have there is an abomination to the eye...it literally pains me to look at it. I agree completely that it should be changed with all haste and the ones responsible for that weak attempt at design should be made to pay the new designer at least 500,000 quid, squid, euros or whatever they were paid in.
British Day? Sure, go ahead and take a day for yourselves. Not until you get that logo sorted out, though. :D
I understand such negative crisistim. The whole world is watching us and we don't want to embarrass ourselves.Quote:

I know that sometimes marketing firms will purposely create bad ads and such to get people talking about how bad they are. Any publicity can be good publicity. Maybe the Olympic organizers were going for something like that. If so they have succeeded greatly.
12 years from now at the olyimpic comittee meeting
"ok everyon we have 7 bids for the 2036 olyimpics lets narrow them down, london, las vegas, paris, japan, alaska, canada, mexico"
"**** london remember that 2012 logo they came up with, worst ratings ever, people kept dropping like flies cause of the seisures.. they almost killed the olyimpics, they are def out"
"all in favor"
*everyone agrees that london sucks ass*
You're right the logo suits London perfectly;-)
Ouch. Thats just the saddest logo I ever did see.
The website.........
