That said, tennis on a PS3 is like Pong on an Atari 1800.

You need a lot of strategy, good reactions and a lot of precision on how you set the angle of the shots. But what really makes it this amazing is that many of the matches are close, challenging and nerve wrecking, it almost feels like a real game of pro tennis. Just a few moments without full concentration and you're starting to lose a match. And that's just with the computer opponent, against real, similarly skilled people ... well, you can imagine the result. :D

Sorry, but tennis is not a good game. PS3 gave nearly no good games except their exclusive ones. The non-exclusive ones have equal graphics to the 360, why? Because PS3 has such a tiny player-base that there is no point spending so much money on graphical changes.
If I want to play Metal Gear Solid, i'll play Splinter Cell Convictions (XB360 exclusive), if I want to play Virtua Tennis, i'll play Wii sports/Wii Play. If I want to play Killzone I'll just play Halo 3.
The extra money you need to spend on the console is ridiculous, my brother is stupid for buying one instead of a computer.

I'm not hooked to Virtua Tennis because of the graphics, so much is for sure. ;)

If you want too see the best ever graphics on any console, play the GT:HD demo, on a 1080p 52" TV. :D

So you basically play games for the graphics?? My dad is like that, its coz he's like 40 and fully amazed at what computers can do, but your a techy person Sub, your not allowed to like games just because of the graphics!!

I would have to play more with the Wii to decide that, really. However, there's no way I would let someone throw a Wii controler in the direction of my new 52" TV, even with the arm strap. :p

You should see my younger cousins playing with it, its like watching a horror film fol out before your very eyes, they slowly move toward the precious tv and they lash with the Wiimote, they don't get it can pick up small movements, and then they almost hit each other over the head with the thing. We lay down a bit of spare material to show where they are not allowed past.

But with everyone else they know and we use a stronger version of the Wii Straps by using entwined metal strands with a cloth outing. Looks like the normal ones but stronger inside.

Haha, stupid Microsoft. I know there system was doing some wierd stuff, but 50-30% on failure is too funny. It times like this I wish Mircosoft would quit gaming and let Sega come back.

I'll just get this case so I know when to turn it off and give it a rest :)

So there you have it. This whole thing is a design problem and can't be repaired. Either MS releases a redesigned console or they should stop production.

I'll give MS credit for not hanging their customers out to dry, but honestly, they should've taken cooling a lot more seriously, especially knowing it's a living room device likely to live in a cubby hole.

Props to Nintendo, profit on the Wii from day 1.

DAM. I May have to send my xbox back to microsoft, I have 2 perfectly clean discs but they jump alot and get alot of disc read errors. This happened with Shadowrun and Gears of war. I blew into my disc tray and it was fine for a while so I think it may be that the lense is dirty...

What really surprises me is that they have'nt changed anything for over a year now. This problem was there from day one and reported on several gaming sites. Only after shop employes have leaked some real hard numbers they've taken action. MS has always talked about five or even three percent and knew the whole time that it was much, much more than that. Not that I would have expected them to release the real numbers, but at least they could have tried a bigger cooling solution at some time through that year as from the look of it what they added now on some boxes is more or less just a hack job, nothing that looks like they invested some serious time into it.

I think it's overall crappy production and parts. Mine had a dead HDD, went back to the store and exchanged it, the guy there said that was the 3rd one that day they had.

That's what happens when you cut corners.

No expert I, but I'm pretty sure that improved cooling is not just a question of slapping a bigger fan on the back and that's done it.

Besides the point that a bigger fan on an Xbox would require users to have a pilots license (helicopters, anyone - stay with me, here), but it wouldn't necessairly add/remove the volume of cooler air required due to case design, internals, etc, nor might the cooler air even get where necessary for the same reasons.

They're in a pickle and no mistake.

But then they made the elite, which pretty much eliminates all those problems, unfortunatly we have to pay extra for it.

So in essence, the key selling proposition of the Elite is none other than it won't overheat and die?

When I bought my Elite(after my first 360 crapped out) I was under the impression that there was no new hardware update. I havent looked into it of course, because i'm lazy, but I've noticed that the Elite is far more quiet than my previous console.

The Elite hasn't solved the problem(s).
