 today went well, i started the day with $1650, now i got 2585$. so i profited almost a grand today. not bad i only played 4 60$/45 mans, and took down one, and came third in the other where i had a huge CL. it kinda sucks to go that deep and then lose. But ill take it. im not that excited when i win a grand per day or something because i know you can easily lose 1200 in a day... and that is quite normal variance for the stakes that i play.
My birthday is coming up and i dono what im gonna do to celebrate. ill probably just take out some of my friends to a nice restaurant. no idea what else to do. other than that, im probably gonna go drive around and look for a place to play golf. none of my friends ever wanna hangout so i just gotta do things on my own. im gonna go to the petstore to buy stuff for my dog. maybe do a bit of cleaning later.
im probably not done poker for the night, but im pretty sure if i do play more today im just gonna lose since its normal variance. PEACEOUT
gshock, can you supply me with some more numbers. I need more data. Like a record of winnings over the last year? Something like that, I want to try something statistical.....
is that something statistical trying to find out my username on pokerstars lol?
I surely can supply you with my graph over the last few months, but i will have to do that when i have more time. i usually do play lots and lots of tables at a time. and i have a few acquaintances who have already made millions or hundreds of thousands of dollars and they're not even done school yet. i hope to be one of those ppl because that is my goal. i've worked really hard to get to the point where i am.... and i dont wanna share ANY of that infromation, call it me being selfish, but i worked way to hard to share how i make my money.
its really funny how life works, some days youre up and some days you're down. you can never really predict where you're headed no matter how good u plan. The only thing u can do is make the best possible decisions and hope for SOME luck.
i made another 200 bucks or so, but im still waiting for the downswing. coming soon. funny story... i had 2 final tables going and my dog pooped on the carpets.... and i didnt want him to make a bigger mess so immediatel i moved my laptop to the other room and locked my dog up and started cleaning the poo and playing 2 tables @ the same time. i came 2nd and i think third. i lost with AA < a8. I gotta go to my friends party tonight, but i also gotta clean my house up cuz it is SOOOOOOO dirty. im trying to get platinum star (which is a VIP level for poker players) it will be very beneficial for me to get it. I also bought the movie "8 mm" with nick cage i had to pause it b/c my dog pooed on the carpet. but so far pretty good.
If anyone here plays on pokerstars, let me know i want to kick some FKin batt
if you give me $1500 ill let you try and win it back.
this is easily the greatest thread that I have ever seen.
The topics of discussion in this blog/thread I would hardly consider 'life.' That being said, please carry on. This has been oh so entertaining in a rubbernecking to watch the carnage after a bad car wreck kind of way.Quote:

No wonder you have so much variance, you play turbo tournaments. Turbo games are just all-in luck fests. They're for people who dont have patience to wait for good hands or for people too dumb to make good decisions so they let the fast blind structure force them to play.
Read some poker books son.
Would you rather have someone like him constantly chasing the river at your table? He's a bad beat waiting to happen.
And yeah this thread is great. You can pretty much punch this guy in the face and he'd still have no clue that no one likes him.
What type of poker is this CI? I need to make some quick cash to pay off some debts...
gambling is possibly the worst way to try and pay off debts.. as there is a good chance that you will end up more in debt.Quote:

I recently worked at what could be called an "MTV Real World casting bin" or a "myspace focus group gold mine". I honestly didn't know if reality TV was just that accurate about narcissists, or if narcissists simply tried that hard to emulate TV. Either way, our armed forces may contain the 2nd best generation, but the club/nightlife/E! television/TMZ/Nip-Tuck kids are among the most useless.
It was more out of curiosity of the answer then actually doing it. I have never been a gambler and don't plan on being. My dad is a bum and has lost a lot of money in his life because of it and I don't plan on following in his foot steps.Quote:

How easy is it really to win in one of these online tournaments? I have never really played poker but just to kill some time at night it might be fun to play with some lose change. Are there poor people poker sites haha?
How about forcing their kids to hand over their pay-check from the video store? I've some terrible situations.
You can play the .com of most poker sights for free using fake money. It's not really good practice for the .net sites as people play full tilt with fake money. Further, pay sites are not good practice for real table games because it's a different psyche game.
That said, an online tourny on the weekends can be a really fun way to kill a few hours.
I've come first a few times in the Sit & Go tourneys but more often than not I don't score a prize position. If I tote up my wins vs losses then I'd probably be -£50 which isn't too bad. I'm no big money player but I can see how people get addicted. The money doesn't seem real when you're playing online and it doesn't hit you how much you've spent until your card statement arrives.
I've had to uninstall the software from my PC because I know if I'm drunk and see it on my desktop then the card will come out and I'll be up till 5am playing the tournies.

There are some surprisingly easy and hard to detect ways of scamming people in online poker, and the sites hosting the games don't necessarily need to be in on it.
Curiously, the strategy gshock is talking about (one person playing many tables) is about the most dangerous thing you can do, so I'm wondering whether he's baiting people to go and play in this way so he can scam them.
Most stroies I hear about gambling success are just ways of baiting people to go and lose money.
Gshock probably has multiple accounts with this poker site, and has a way of accessing via multiple IP addresses. Anyone turning up and playing at a table with him and his aliases will find they win the first couple of hands and then get bled dry as soon as they get confident and bet more money.
I'd put money on it.
a few, both family members and co-workers.Quote:

I personally have no patience for poker and i hate losing money to chance.
Poker had absolutely nothing to do with my question. Who knows people like gshock? This is... entertainment.Quote:

People who make stuff up like he does or someone who is REALLY like him? I know people who make **** up all the time. We always say he is out planting bean stalks with every lie he tells so that one day he will be able to climb into his fairy tale land and live forever.
but people who are actually like him- I really hope there isn't anyone.
I see an FK award ceremony coming up:

Too much talk, too little GShock! Gshock, I want more stories from your life.
Agree with ihoss! Where did he go?
And you'd lose your money.Quote:

I dont play much anymore because i have too much freelance work and 2 kids but it's not as easy as everyone thinks.Quote:

You can be the best player ever, and you'll still lose, a lot.
The key is to be able to withstand bad beats, suckouts, and overall bad luck. If you have the bankroll, patience, and a little bit of poker savvy you can make a living playing poker online.
That's 40+ hours a week of grinding it out. You're not going to have a good chance if you play the big fun tournaments. You're going to be grinding it out on a cash table, sometimes not playing a single hand for hours.
It's a fun hobby, it's not as glamorous a job as they portray on TV though.
I'd compare it to being a professional gamer. I would grow to hate video games very quickly if I had to put in eight hours a day training.
I wonder if my punch in the face comment went too far.
Eight hours of training a day? If anyone offers me, I'm in!
Better than eight hours of attending to fickle minded customers, mind you.
gshock has been pretty quiet since I suggested what he was trying to do.....
well, that means that you have to entertain us in the meantime. so will you or should I start your blog thread?
I've got nothing on g-shock. Really, I'd have to make stuff up to be that entertaining :p
