As i said i inteded to give it a try with a game and see how that goes and then post an update. Haha, i didn´t expect so many posts coming up in such a short timespan,so ok,
here´s a quick update on my experiences so far:
I added two games to the system, i got a mail stating no portals would probably bid for them as i had selected "widely available" in the exposure selector for the game (which as i said still feels weird to me that one has to select widely available when a game had more than 10k views, but if that´s how the sponsors who work with the service see it, ok).
So instead i put em up in the usual store there.
It was a bit cumbersome to add one of the games to the site, as i said they only support uploading a single swf so either one has to have the whole game be contained in one swf or host other assets than the main swf somewhere else.
Flash´s security sandbox doesn´t exactly love loading and communicating with assets from another server though so that felt a bit like wasted cumbersome modifciations requiring work. Got the problem solved quickly once knowing what it was about (getting what the problem was , that part took a while as often the case with security sandbox restriction related stuff)
So far i had 24 sponsor users look at one game and 4 at the other (i just added the second one yesterday).
I like it that one can see how many views a game had and how long each had the game open. Its interesting to see that most seem to stay very short on a game, dunno if that´s a good thing or not, i guess it comes due to them looking through many games there.
On the funny side i had one guy have the game open for around 2 hours 20 minutes, i wonder if he played through the whole thing or just forgot the tab open :D
While seeing the view count and the play time duration number for each view features are nice to have features i found it to have actual more practical use to see for each view which spnsor that was so one can click on his name and see his membership details, that way get an idea for who it is to some degree.
(Which can be good if one knows some portals)
I also like it that they have ratings for each member in two categories: Market Level and community level. One can gain levels by doing certain actions which to some degree can help in showing/seeing whos a member using the service in good/mutually benefitial way.
I´d like this idea to be taken a step further, to give an example i like the ebay user rating system where one can after each transaction rate the other side.
The thing i liked most so far is the support of the fgl fellas: Games were reviewed/approved quickly, i got questions answered quickly and they also sent me some good suggestions in between.
Regarding the actual money making side: So far i got a few pms with questions from publisher members, so far no deal though.
I like the functionality itself more now besides the things i moaned about, i also like the passion they put into the support, now if it also brings me more money or at least equally much money as i usually got when dealing with all licensing stuff first hand, i´ll be quite happy with it. Looking forward to see how that turns out :)
