still got problem......
i made a quick test page... see if you also experience streaming problem...
after opening and closing 2 or 3 times on Win IE...
site jams up...
http://www.grizzly.uk.co/stream/test.html
thx
how do you mean "jams up" ?
as soon as I close the window the stream stops, and my connection halts throughtput.
*looks confused*
i cannot seem to get my flash player updated, everytime i go to the site http://www.grizzly.uk.co/stream/test.html
it prompts me to download the flash player.
and if after downloading and restarted, it doesnt seem to be updated.
I tried spamjavelin's page with the old player, and the streaming problem appeared. Then i downloaded the new one, and it worked better but not perfect:
I had to click it about 10-20 times to make it break. I tried it on two computers (Win 2k with IE 5.5 and NT4 with IE5.0) with the same result.
The download stops when the window is closed, but after some reloading it jams up anyway.
what i find odd...
if i load the player into a layer or target of a master movie it works fine....as many starts and stops as you want...
but in a seperate popup html window ...if you close the window between attempts....it does what it does!
??????????
i give up....suppose ill have to re-write site.... :-(
Well i am on IE6 on XP and i go over the link that mike suggested and download the newest version..after rebooting my system i am on the new player and yea i tested thisQuote:

also i found its working fine without any problem
as soon as pop up window apprear it start the streaming of music and playing fine as soon as i close the window again it unloaded successfully with out any problem..so i think no doubt on it.
i tested this 5 to 6 times..still if somebody have this kind of link post here.. i would like to try all that.
I downloaded a network monitoring program, and went to the test-page again. When I start downloading the file, a new connection is made, and when I close the window the connection is usually being closed. BUT... Every once in a while, the connection will remain open when the browser is closed! And when this has happend two times, it locks up. (That's because IE only handles three connections, right?)
If i close the connections manually, it works fine again.
If someone wants to test it, the network monitoring program can be found here:

And just to clarify:
This problem does only affect movies that are loaded into pop-up windows. When loading movies in a single window into a master swf everything works fine...
thanks wikke....i was starting to think i was going mad!!!Quote:

hi mike,
i have downloaded the player for 2 machines running on win 2000 and win xp respectively. on both accounts, i have rebooted the machines, but however the flash.ocx file still reads as r23.
when i tried the site, http://www.grizzly.uk.co/stream/test.html, it keeps prompting me to download the flash player.
is there anyway i can verify my version? and how do i make sure the correct version is downloaded? hope to hear from you, this is really quite a pain
*bump*
does anyone else have this problem?
I hope to god none of my clients ever have to do it, but try this:
do the dereg thing that is linked to above,
the link (to macromedia.com) provides details,
do it for both the swflash.ocx and the Flash.ocx
(Flash 5 and 6 players)
Then go into your FLash MX install directory, go to players/release and install the FLash 6 AX player (the filename is "Install Flash Player 6 AX.exe")
Then goto the download page, get the new player, and reboot.
does that get it?
hmm.. at the macromedia flash player download center, after downloading, when i click on the "about" in the test movie clip that flash provided, it says "version 6,0,23,0 installed successfully".
did the version number actually updated? becoz the flash.ocx also indicates r23 instead of r29.
hi sonwah,
i tried what you suggested but dun think it worked. thanks anyway. the flash.ocx file is still r23. even at this page : http://www.macromedia.com/support/fl...st_version.htm it shows that the version downloaded was r23.

looks like i am not the only one with this problem:

it's really very FRUSTRATING to wait SOOO long to find that you are still using the r23 player... i wonder what else does one need to do to install it properly.. editing the registry? uninstallin the browser? format the pc?
i just went to MM's site and downloaded the new version w/ no problem. try not to have any browser running the flash player before installing the new one.
dont' you *have* to have a browser running to initiate the download from MM's site :S
no no no, not the browser, the flash activex control in the browser, make sure no browser is running it. that way you can prevent a reboot, and it might be plain ol good luck. :D
I knew what you meant ... I was just kidding around...hehehehe Seriously though when I went to the site and downloaded the updated player, I had nothing open but the mm site, and I *still* had to reboot. It wasn't a big deal since the update took, and I now run the latest version ... just kinda weird
have a good one!
