If Pairing A stays a tie I think we need to have a tiebreaker...
What say you?
a duel to the death?
i say they have to play bubble gum bubble gum in a dish...
Well boys, I've got one past midnight and I've gotta tell ya, I'm relieved. For awhile there it looked like NJP3 took it. I'm looking forward to the tie-breaker...whatever it is.
CONGRATS TO THE WINNERS!
Congratulations on everyone who won this round! The voting was extremely tough this time around. The hardest two were A and G with A being the toughest, but I'm pretty sure everyone already knew that judging by the split decision. :D I searched all over Google images and Stock.xchng for the machine gun so I could tell if the ammo belt was added in or not. Incredible attention to detail on the belt if it was. It must have taken a good while to orientate the cigarettes.
I ended up voting for A2 because it had a familar feeling I couldn't place, but I liked it. The shadow on the tip of the cigarette was nice and the multiple standins were done well, especially with the lighting.
The one I was a little disappointed by was B2. For such an incredible image, the stock seemed like an afterthought. The stones clashed too much with the other more jagged rocks and made it stick out like a sore thumb. It just seemed a little out of place.
I did like B1 a lot. It had a warm feel about. The softness of the image gave you that feeling of calm before the storm (as was depicted in the image itself).
Between stock C1 and Zacaboo's, C1 probably would have been the one I would have voted for. I liked the humor behind the image and stock made sense.
I wouldn't even know where to begin with D1. Incredible image all around. Well executed on every aspect. D2 was good too. I had to go back and examine the stock to figure out what part was used, but when I did, I'd have to say that it works well. Perhaps a different text treatment / choice of color for the glow, but other than that, I like it.
It's a shame E1 also didn't have competition because this was another really good one. I'm not sure about the blur on the stains. Gives it a bit of an odd sense of depth. I like it, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to infer (stained lens / raining stains?).
And now the other hardest two to judge. G1 made great use of texture and decorative elements but the grey in it sort of dulled it out a bit. The stock also played well into the image. G2 made clever use of the stock and I voted for this one because I'm fairly sure the heart was added in judging by the blood that looks like it was brushed on. I wish the text color had been different. On my monitor it looks like it has a pink tint to it. It just doesn't play nicely against the deep red.
And last but not least ;), H. I like the vectorized elements in this one. Good color choice and texture in the corners makes this one a good image all around.
Nice job, CT. Like Natsia said, great texturizing. The parallels between our images were cool like the use of one striking color, things snaking around, and "hair." (Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your long hair / Let down your hair) :D At the beginning of the competition I was thinking about how cool it would be to have both of the images share a theme. I guess it happened... sort of.
Who did the rainbow train and the fairy hop? They deserve a whole heap of props.
Any tutorials forthcoming? :)
Congrats all winners, the tiebreaker should be entertaining.
Zacaboo wouldnt have even been up against C1...he was supposed to battle me...i thought we were clear on that?Quote:

That's it from me folks. My mouth's shut for the rest of the competition. It just keeps fk'n up. :D
I'm just giving you crap because you keep guessing my images wrong. ;)Quote:

Well, let me just say this...
"Dreams" was mine... and a proper congratulations to lefteye for pulling out an absolutely killer image.....you deserve to take me, the absolute second that I saw your image (and I didn't look until posting time) I knew I was done in. Dude, the depth alone in your image made my fargin' toes curl up. It was like looking into a swirl of life and depth. I felt like I could reach into my monitor and never touch anything. One hell of an image...
Now, I'd like to say this... most improved: silverx2. 2 KICK ASS images!!! Superman rocked, but stock usage was minimal... and the spine was pure genius. so far.....I would give that best use of stock, period. So, you went from best usage to worst within one week. I know, you were heading to San Diego man.....and I love ya, but you had a killer first round image and a DAMN good second round effort. You get the EVP most improved award for '07MM.
NJP3 HOLY HELL!!! I loved your image, stock usage, text.....you got my vote. O, sorry man, I had to go with my heart... Your image, while crisp and dark (which I love) left me wanting the fire to be more "real" and the figures almost seemed to float. Nitpicking at best.....and trying to "justify" my feeling vote to you, my friend. I just thought that NJP3 rocked it hard... really the absolute hardest vote of the bunch. And that is why we now have a tie!!!
Genesis F5 GREAT effort, I (thought I)voted for you because your image was more concise and clean with a tight palette and a clear message. maybe the font could have bee better, but that is seriously not my area. ct, your mage would make a killer hair dye advert. and I mean that in the best way possible...
fearless, you and I.....we need to dance when this is over. kick ass image. the world could learn a lot from you if you put together a tute site. hell, I'd visit.
>flashl!ght< best for last... your mind must see things that no one can imagine on a good day... You and that image just plain ****ing ROCK!
gotta put together a battle to the death now.....E-style. You all rocked my world. I love being part of the Arena, and I have no hard feelings... Hell, I get to play with some of the best in the world...
Oh, NJP3 and O... you guys are getting a special "E" stock... I'll have it prepared in just a bit...
And you are getting short rules, play or lay. 2 days. Rock or be rocked. So, who's got game? PM's will be sent, nations will shake, states will fall, cities will crumble, hearts will break... Get.Your.Game.On!
You both have 15 mins until I post my stock. Prepare for the battle of all battles...
all dates move forward by 2 days + voting
Uh oh. This competition you voted for CT's image.

Recount! :D
And wow, I thought A and G were vice-versa. So much for the stick figures, ey Lefteye? :D
I love how you word things. Good luck boys.Quote:

So, ondreadan and NJP3 you are getting this special stock from me. And yes, you must deal with the reflections and all. She is older that all of us (yes, you too ATG) and she is sending her samurai off to battle with a heavy heart.

Really sorry for the reflections, I blocked the room off as best as I could. I guess the low light got the best of me this time.
Well.....GAME ON!
where'd you get this doll E?
Quality's kinda on the grainy side....
Handed down in the family, she is a prize that I did not do justice to...
Low light makes for grain, be happy that you don't have to deal with the stock. Actually a grainy stock separates the "men" from the "boys" as it were...
Good luck boys, I look forward to seeing you both become MEN here...
3 votes and the miss congeniality title... nice.
i will say that i expected fearless stock use to be a little bit more creative, i did manage to get on dial-up for all of 30 seconds and was kinda let down when i saw the two stones just sorta chilling. i expected them to be rock monsters with fire breath and gothic children.
oh and no comic book fans? jeeze figured id at least get some hey its superman votes:(
