Just saw the site - it certainly didnt raise the bar, but it was a very well developed site. The load was fine except it seemed a bit buggy as the first time I loaded it, the small intro chunked up. Nice original colour scheme, cool transitions, overall a cool site - but not revolutionary.
Anyone else concur?

V2 was what got everyone interested in 2A, the v3 came out and it was great no doubt, one of the best, and it did raise the bar. EJ is a royal ******* from what i heard, but as long as he could back his talk up it was ok, well now they overhyped everything too much, and 2A is finished.

How is 2A 'done'? That statement makes NO sense. They've developed a nice brand, and one they can market easily. Have a look at their portfolio; 2A is far from finished.
At the rate that some of the newer design studios are moving, ie. Flashlevel, it won't be long until 2a is surpassed though...
seriously, like digitalone said, how you gonna say its finished?..thats like sayin NBC is finished because it added 4 new shows to its fall lineup..which wouldnt happen, well anyways, your lookingat this from a designer viewpoint and not the client. Clients are gonna be amazed at the skills they can produce and hire them. Your just speaking for all the other flash designers out there i think and not the corporations and business that are looking for a flash website to be made. As long as theres companys out there that need this, 2a will not be "surpassed", just challenged i guess.Quote:

i just sat down and opened the site again and honestly it is the first time i could get through it without and lag or laoding issues for all the sub sections. and i have to tell you i am even more impressed by the site now. there is a lot of detail, i dont know what some (most) of you are talking about but i see attention to detail more so than any other site i have EVER seen. there are little animations everywhere, the buttons are all detailed with slight bevels and shadows, there is shading and textures all over the site that give it a great look and feel. i would take a long time to do just the graphics alone, much less add all the flash. i think it would take a long time to just sit down and straight copy this site, and thats saying alot. not many other sites, not any imho, can you say that about.
anyways, thats just what i was feeling when i actaully got to go through the site uninterrupted

whats really making me laugh right now (viewing site again now) is those little TMs that were previously mentioned. how exactly do you trade mark "subsystem" or "mainframe". taking that extra precaution against future rips maybe? to me it comes of as sort of pretentious.
but anyways, im kinda surprised at the 2a backlash that seems to be going on. i think its a bit premature to predict their downfall. cuz im sure that to the less scrupulous designer eye, the site will look really awesome. and i mean it isn't too bad. im sure that if someone else had done this, or even if 2a hadn't hyped it up as much, it would have gotten quite a different recepetion. thats not to say the previously mentioned faults don't matter, but that in the end as a website, its not too shabby at all.
btw, the first thing that struck me as being inspired was the whole ninja thing in their demo reel. it really reminded me of the demo reel from www.mk12.com. although i guess the ninjas have their different missions - one to spread love, the other to save a apocolyptic media world:)
Im racking my brain, trying to figure out why everybody hates the new version. The new version is incredeble, and all of you are in denial. 2A is finished? look at their portfolio. In case u havent noticed, it seems that they value word of mouth a great deal, as with most design firms. Most of the hype up was done by the very people who are criticising it now, so its hypocritical, to hype it up, and then tear it down. They did not make the new version for u monkeys, they made it for prospective clients.
Average? u couldnt animate everything that smooth and slick if your life counted on it.
Futhermore... i must admit, that it seems the new version didnt raise the bar as far as backend goes, I dont know what kind of backend they implemented, but from the looks of it, it doesnt seem as different as i expected. They may not have raised the bar as far as AS and backend goes, but they did make the whole friggin scale look alot better.

I think that the site is certainly attractive...but it is buggy, although the bugs seem to be being fixed. I liked the dark blue scheme more than this red metallic scheme. The new 2a is nice, unquestionably overhyped, and is definitely not setting the bar. In fact, I think that Widegroup has surpassed 2a. Nonetheless, the new site is impressive, and does have some very impressive 3D rendering. It's an A- site in my eyes.
AAAAAH! What is that sound on the main nav buttons? It sounds so not-ambient and annoying!!! I WISH I WERE DEAF!!!
Other than that, fairly buggy and not my style but a client that doesn't pay huge attention to stuff like that will love them and lets face it, like their site or not, EVERYONE and their dog knows who 2Advanced is...pretty impresssive marketing if I do say so.

I just saw their site, and it's very "fat", high CPU required! . Even on my P4 1.8Ghz M it looks rough.
Anyway, i think that WideGroup, 2advanced and FI are today the TOP 3 , (or 5 if you want) , of Design Skills, Creativity, Center of inspiration (for the design comunity) and the most important: Portfolios

So, I finally got to see the site up today....
On a technical and animation/motion level its top notch... but from a design point of view its so predictable and cliched.
While the colour scheme is... unique (crimson and teal? ugh, I hate teal) the typographic treatment and imagery is just so.... been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
While im one for style.... I dont think style should overshadow design. Design is about communication and im just lost with all the flashy space ships flying around. Its really nice to look at but its not saying anything to me.
To wrap it up... they do amazing things with motion and really push the technical envelope but I wish more thought and care into the design of it all.
