No dedicated servers? 9 vs 9 is WEAK!
I'll still love the campaign though.
The left4dead2 demo was decent. I don't really like that game on console so that was just a negative point right there and it felt just the same as the first. I will have to wait to play the full game to make a final judgment but the demo didn't help it's cause...

Aren't there still like eight great online FPS's with packed servers? Is there really a void because of this?

Modernwarfare 2 is supposed to be the next Big thing. people still play the 4th one pretty much nonstop so IW taking so much control and gameplay away from people is a pretty big deal.
Seriously 9 vs 9? i can play 32 vs 32 Counter strike games, why in the hell would i only want to play against 9 people. the reason they did this of course is because they took away Dedicated servers, so now the hosting is all dont by a single player that hosts the match, so if they are on dial-up or slow dsl Everyone in the game is going to have huge lag spikes and it will result in a horrible playing experience.
Sometimes i just dont understand what developers are thinking when they do stupid **** like this. Same thing for starcraft 2's lan feature, That doesnt affect me but i understand how it does to people that goto Lan tournaments, Getting internet access for 2-300 people is pretty expensive just so you can all play against each other when your in the same room.

Soon as IW wants people to play the next version they can turn the matchmaking off and you are left with just a single player game.

Was just about to link a similar list. So Weird. This was going to be the best game of the year for me...
Literally the only good thing is profiles online. And how is there no custom maps? ummm if it is going to be hosted by anyone and not dedicated servers it will be even more likely to have custom maps. I LOVED the mod of the helicopter crash one where it was set at night with snow and christmas lights everywhere. That level played headquarters is a blast!
I still want the single player as soon as I can! Also anyone else find the song choice...odd?

2 more games just dropped Dedicated servers.
Thanks infinity ward.
-
Is it really that bad of a decision? I'm honestly asking... and can't tell you the cons nor pros of dedicated servers.
-
the pros are that people are able to create and give away free custom content. clans are able to set of skrims vs other teams knowing that the hardware provides both teams with stable gameplay. Cheaters are able to be kicked/banned by mods that play on dedicated servers, there is no host player so if someone is getting destroyed you dont just get disconnected the ****ty player leaves the game goes on.
When Modernwarfare 3 comes out dedicated servers can keep running MW2, IW will most likely turn off the matchmaking servers which means people will be forced to upgrade.

so playing the new COD on xbox360. God im horrible without the mouse and keyboard. its so depressing go from mouse and keyboard and having pin point accuracy to a controller and not having the thumb reflexes to be able to hit anything thats moving:-/
-
You get used to it honest. I was a hardcore PC gamer using mouse and keyboard and I got used to an Joypad controller on Call of Duty 2. It really is about getting used to it.
-
Just play through the whole single player. By the end of that you'll be fine. That's how I learned quicker. I played COD:WOW all the way through on 360.
-
Absolutely, the single player campaign with coax you in to playing with a controller, going straight into multiplayer will have you pulling your hair out. You need to know how to play with a Joypad before you do.
-
if what i heard is correct, im half way through the single player and i still suck.
-
I've had an xbox for over year a now and still suck at FPS. Of course I pretty much refused to play them on a console so that has a lot to do with it. I'm tired of hearing people say you'll get used to it. I've gotten to where I'm decent and still can't see how it could replace the ability to jump, spin 180 in the air and land a long distance head shot effortlessly. I like the level playing field horsepower wise but I need to find a mouse/keyboard solution badly.
-
You're not going to get the precision you get from a keyboard/mouse combo but you also dont have to hunker down in front of your computer desk for 4 hours straight. I like the fact that i can chill on my recliner with my surround sound system and big LCD tv while playing the newest shooters.
And while it may suck to use a controller, everybody else is using one too so it's an even playing field and there's nothing to whine about.
-
i got the 360 version(as opposed to pc) specifically so i could try and get better with the controller since i cant really take my computer everywhere and im sick of getting raped when i play with friends, and since developers are trying to force people to the consoles by crippling the p.c. versions figured i better start now.
i should get a couple of multiplayer games in tonight and if i haven't throw the thing out the window we will see how it goes.
-
Damn this is tempting me to get a 360 now. How much did you get the SE for?
-
$399.
limited edition 360, 2 controllers, a headset for talking, 250gb harddrive, and MW2.
figure a controller is $50, the game is $60 so the choice between this and a regular elite becomes a no brainer for a first time buyer, throw in a 250gb hd that isnt available alone and you have a sweet little deal.
-
As much as that looks sweet because I want COD MW2- that Resident Evil Elite is sexy.
The normal black elite on ebay for $199. Damn I wish that photo job wasn't for a while...tempting!
-
It really does settle down nicely once you get used to an FPS on a console
