Here's the kind of thing I would like to be doing more of in Flash.
It isn't exactly animation, but it isn't exactly a drawing.
It's somewhere inbetween with a bit of actionscripting in it.

Ok, so I kinda cheated by mirroring one side but hey!
Label I used your explosions as a colour guide, I hope you don't mind, I couldn't get my colours right, they went too bright! :)

Mel, what kind of modelling is that? At school I am being made to use surface modelling in AutoCAD 2000i and it's driving me mad! His definition of surface modelling is that every face has to be constructed seperately and arrange accordingly and whenever you use a boolean function it becomes a 3D solid!
He hasn't got a clue... Grrr... solid modelling next week though :p

Umm nurms subdivsions from box modelling.. I think is what its called. The guys at werk have been showing me tips.. I have no idea what im doin or whats it called. If they told me what your teacher told you I wouldnt even attempt to learn 3d! Im overwhelmed enough by it as is! heheh

Olly K - cool explosion. Reminds me of graphics work on the NES.
DMario - Nice picture, love the pose but you might wanna work on you forshortening. The snake kinda looks flat not cylinder shaprd.
CDP-Design - I don't really use anything for referance for my drawings. Mostly stuff outta my head.
Mel - That really means a lot coming from you. I love your art work man and your site is ouf the chain. Hopefully I'll start putting a site together soon just really been busy on other projects...gotta paty the bills first. Anyway nice pics, cant wait to see what the finished product will look like.

galva9 ok your really talented, I got the stuff I want to draw in my head but it jsut looks rubbbish on paper I cant convey my ideas from head to paper yet, (might have summit to do with art teachers always telling me never to draw from my head only what you see), ah well mayb in a few years time ill improve.
your art teachers are right. only once you have drawn a lot from reality you can start to draw from your head, because you "know" how this and that pose would look like. and you start to forget the how would i think it's right to draw this and that to actually doing it right without thinking.Quote:

Great concept sketches! I dont know why you would think mine were so great! You have much talent! Where do you werk? I expect to see lots of post ;) And thanks for the kind words btw!
very well put nayades! Another tip thats helped out with my hand eye other than dawing from life is perfecting my cursive handwriting. Not scribbling it out but making the "back in school" stuff. Its helped me out alot by keeping a journal of my ideas and thoughts in this manner. And whats funny is 3d has helped me a bunch too. Especially modelling to get a understandin of whats there but cant been seen kinda thing. But as was said (first and foremost) the more you draw from life the easier things will become.
i understand why 3d has helped you, and it is basically because it's the most similar digital media to reality. it can show you the different angles, and with wireframes you learn where objects are placed, and how they interact to create the whole shape.Quote:

CDP - nayades and Mel are right. It is extremely important that you draw what you see. For instance, if you just start drawing lets say a person, you start drawing what YOU THINK in you mind what a person looks like. If you draw a person in front of you, you draw what acually there (well, sometimes). Anywhoo, If your are drawing someone thats standing ther in front of you, your brain begins to remember muscle structure, how clothes fit, and fall on a person. After doing it so often when you do draw someone thats not infront of you your brain remembers and hopefully your drawing will look a little more realistic.
Mel, can I call you Mel? lol.- No, no. THANK YOU for the kind words. Come on, you really don't know why I think you art work is so great. Apparently your modesty is as great as your artistic talent. I work in film production Mel. Mostly freelance work for movies, music videos, commercials, ect. Right know I am working on a TV show for TBS. I just started pimping out my drawing talents a few months ago on the side. Mostly album covers, posters, print, and recently to someone who apparently wants me to illustrate his indy comic mini-series.

i'm doing art, dt and music. music was really boring (too much history, not enough compostitions) so in a week, i'll just be doing art and dt.
then its off to do a foundation course in art and design (most universities recomend it if your gonna do an art related course in uni)
