Mag, I dig the texture that you used on the brown part!
Xup, that's interesting-- nicely done!
and Natsia, those look quite realistic!

PS: Thanks E-Tahn.
this one's otta swift3d with a little work in flash;
http://users.nlc.net.au/oceana/swift/misc/hotrodv1.jpg
the feedback says it's a little dark. waddayathink?
woo that's cool blink
perhaps its the color of dude's cape and helmet should be diffferent from the above background that would make the picture brighter .. i think...
also i cant makeout whats on the neath of the guy it quite blury
still gorgious piece i suppose its for a game right? let me know if my suppository is right :D
oh yes while at it here is a girl i did couple weeks ago
http://www.paintek.com/doodles/lulu2.jpg
nice one mag. tanks for the c&c. the stuff under his coat is his ribs and his other hand hangin onto the wheel. it's blurry coz i woz tryin to create some movement, otherwise it just looks like he's blown the engine. no it's not for a game, just muckin around. i think if it woz on a black t-shirt the color would be acceptable or mabey it's just my monitor (lcd). everything seems to be lighter on it.
btw. i think the pose on your girl is very well done. very natural.
thanks blink , maybe you or somebody here may know, i'd like to design my own shirt then have it printed and shiped to me , actually since winter is coming a long sleeve shirt would be very nice but it seems to me like you can only print front and back what if i want a picture or some lettering on a sleeve? you know like the nautica long sleeves shirts which i really love?
sorry for the off topic guys but i guess its still related to art if not I'll post 2 pictures next time :) :smoov: :)

MR CHOMPY!!! Also... what not to wear to Prom, but great Morp fashions nonetheless....
Natsi, I really like the bright colors! The shirt and the hair are excellent!
Blink, that's pretty crazy-- at first I was like-- woah, that looks really 3d, I'm gussing because you used Swift 3D so you got the shaded colors down perfectly. ;) Smoke from the car looks great, you did define "speed" pretty well!
Mag, I love the light background-- it really brings out her light personality more! Cute. :)
Awww Mr Chompys cute! where can I get one :P Thanks again e-tahn. The dress is actually pea's work. It came from his volley.
BlinkOk : I thats a rather kick ass model. It might only look dark when you give it a background. Against the black thats on there now, it looks fine.
Mag: is she concealing a knife or am i going mad?
thanks tahn cool sketches !
no natsia your not going mad she is conceiling a pretty big butcher knife watch out  :yikes: :faded:
geez I thought something looked rather suspicious about that girl... O.o
hhehe thanks Natsia glad you like Mr. Chompy! I want one too! I scared my english teacher half to death when she saw one on her board in the classroom. :D
lol 2 both of u.
you guys better behave or i'll introduce you to this nice fella down here :yikes: :D
http://www.paintek.com/doodles/diablo3.jpg
AAH!
he's kinda got an evil grinnishwow.........eek!
hey just a suggestion, try using some other colors in there-- for instance, try mixing in some blues or greens for opposing shades and you'll get a more eeevil and dramatic effect I betchya!!
http://tahnee.org/sketchbooksketches...yghandibig.jpg
hehheee
great stuff Tahn still like i told you before I'd like to see some chiaro/scuro
ah here is the devil again i color it a little hoping to make it look more "evil" :D
http://www.paintek.com/doodles/diablo4.jpg
Nice magentos... Thats an interesting texture you have going on his skin,
How'd u do the veins in the wings? Ease tool?
Tahn I love ur ghandi! Only he was indian and had glasses :P That guy looks a little more like a monk to me :P
whats an ease tool? nah on this one was quite easy <not related> i just used the small brush tool the i blur it a bit but for the better looking ones i use a combination of brush tool with blevel smudge - and a good dose of luck :)Quote:

;)
HAHAH For the love or magnets--- priceless!
Mag, there's definitely an improvement there! Nice work!
Yeah I've always wondered about how you went aboutyour textures-- mind giving a brief one on the skin?
hmmm well I"m trying to do these cartoon characters as fast as possible, say 15 mins apiece, give or take a few minutes. Soooo I"m not really into shading them right now :P they're just rough characters, but maybe I'll go back and recreate some of them with full-on shading. :D
As for Ghandi... Yes, it was supposed to be a general monk at first-- I forgot that he work glasses! :P but then I decided to make him into Ghandi just.. because... the name fit and it kinda worked!
I could see it now: "one floating Ghandi, please!" "just roll on up to the printer further up, put in your dollar and it'll print itself out!"
that would be sweet. a print center for art. haha!
in PS 7 there is a tool called clone tool within this tool there is another tool which can apply textures infact when you select this tool you'll see a little sample window on the top right corner on the main panelQuote:

actually played with 2 or 3 different textures untill i got what i liked
i created a new layer and i reduced the opacity by 20% to 10 % and then i applied it on the skin
but i think its best you use brushes because built in textures and filters can make the picture look cheap, you can obtain pretty cool texture even with the PS built in brushes there are also lots of free brushes you can download for free on the web
PS brushes are used like real life paint brushes no more no less
hope this helps
OK I was off work today and really REALLY bored.
So I coloured this from my drawings portie :

what can i say natsia , beside some anatomical and proportions issues your pictures are quite sweet :)
i like the last one best , keep it up
tahn yes try some comic shading please i think your characters would look much cooler
Thanks magnetos, The preportions are deliberate. ;)
Over exsadurated on the angel & cartoon chick and under on the kiddie one.
ok this picture is not entirely mine it was an unfinished lion made by a friend of mine i fluidify it a bit and then i added some magnetite it i came out with this
http://www.paintek.com/doodles/thing.jpg
Again really nice textures going on there.
I think my only complaint is that it looks a little flat?
Regardless, its a good image.
ayy yes natsia people keep telling me that my stuff look flat I guess I'm missing something but apparently cant figure out what oh well if you or anybody here can improve on it and explain how to me I would be eternally grateful :)
Your shading is a bit off
The thigns comming our the side of his head looks like they are comming right out the skin on his face. (especailly the "wings" by his temles)
Add more of a shadow around the frame of his face and jaw with the burn tool (set to about 60 / 70 % and on the "shadows" option)
remember to blend it out as it gets further away. (either decrease the pressure or do it on a seperate layer and erase with a soft round tool on a lighter pressure setting)
You can also use the dodge tool to bring out his cheekbones, nose and just above his eyebrows.
set it to at least 70% (you can go softer to match the lighting)
OK thats my 2bit advice :P
Hope it helped
If I may can I play around with it and repost?
PMS : Side note. Working on different layers will help you to build up depth.
When i colour something I usually work on 5 - 8 layers. (depending on how realistic or overboard I go)
Darkest colours to lightest each on seperate layers and then one or 2 additoinal layers for effects and final dodges.
Working this way also helps you go back and edit the things you dont like about your image later without the hastle of having to change the whole image.
So remember kids : colour from the background to the front and from darkest colour to lightest. These are the same things they tell you when you are drawing/painting a real pic.
OK Times a waisting so my version : Nothing fancy, burn and dodge tool.
Sorry for not waiting for a reply, its getting late and I wanna go to bed :P

http://www.paintek.com/doodles/minithing.jpg

Very very cool.
I love the combination of colours you used.
thanks natsia , not really satisfied with the skin texture though still having some problem with brushes and textures, i guess is because i never really used real paint brushes
