So terrible about flash. I mean, first two rounds with fantastic throwdowns to no competition. Then no image this round when someone shows up. Very upsetting. Would have been sweet to have seen him in the finals.
A couple of upsets this round too. Was surprised with O's image. Too bad man, I was rooting for you. Gerbs also, I liked the image (and voted for it) but I guess it just couldn't take down Fearless' one.
Actually, I didn't like Fear's image, if only for the content. Too macabre for me.
well, i was completely ready to be knocked out of round 3 on Monday at 1am when i had NOTHING done...I mean NOTHING. I sat for 5 days looking at a blank screen...VERY frustrated. It wasn't until almost 5pm tuesday before i actually had something take place in PS.
My image sucked and honestly doesn't deserve a chance to get to the final 4. It was literally done in no more than 2 hours of total time spent from S to F.
Someone above asked about the "I suck monkey nuts" ...yeah, that's exactly what i felt like when i 'finished' my image. It's definitely not going on my wall of fame, honestly, i don't know if it would have gotten me out of round 1.
i was much surprised to see Flashy not show up. I'm neither relieved nor satisfied.
I just hope this round inspires me a bit more.
i hoped that flashlight kicks lefteye out... and he didn't show up. :(
now i'm cheering for fearless.
i think that round 2 is more fun to watch.
lots of drama here. which makes it even more fun.
ayo, congrats to the final four... and with a twist too? I'll be on travel, but will be watching via the mobile screen.

I was all ready to crit this round of images, but I'm a little gun shy after gerbick yelled at me yesterday ( ;) ) so I'll just say this...
This round as a whole was not as good as round 2. I felt most of the images were on the weak side. Maybe it was the difficulty of the stock, I dunno...
TDRI - Your image was my favorite of the round and it was wonderfully executed. Only 2 issues bothered me about it: The big Duck shield/emblem above the podium sticks out like a sore thumb, and the rows of ducks are not facing the speaker, which struck me as kinda odd. Other than that I loved your image.
My other favorite was ctranters. This was the one I initially thought was gerbicks, because it is very gerb-esque. I still don't know what part of the stock you used through, but the image is great. You completely amaze me in just about everything you do.
Good luck to the advancers! I'm excited to see what you'll bring to the table next round!
Thanks sandy! I actually have the same problems with the image (plus some more that you didn't mention). I didn't really calculate in how long it was going to take to make a believable duck for every quadrant of the audience to be facing the way it should be facing and have the right features visible. Most angles aren't available from the stock photo itself and I had a number of other, similar stocks to draw from, but even they were of little help. So the ducks that ARE there are a bit of a cop-out and are just repeated over a vanishing point grid (to insure their placement is at least believable). I didn't even finish applying the lighting effects, etc. that I wanted them to have and ran out of time, essentially... I'm actually planning on finishing the image as I intended it to be at some point once this competition is over.Quote:

Guys, sorry for the no show, especially to lefteye. I was traveling from the 22-24, and although I had the foresight to start a draft concept of my image early on, I didn't have the foresight to know I would be sick in bed by the time I got back. I actually remembered MM in bed and thought "aw crap, there goes that" -- I'm probably more disappointed than anyone else! Didn't even get to vote. Maybe I'll finish my image just because.
Cheers to the final 4, I had a lot of fun thus far none the less. :)
I for one am disappointed that we won't be seeing any more images from you this year. Based on your R1 and R2 submissions, you had this whole tournament in the bag as far as I was concerned.
Speaking of which, do you have a desktop resolution (1024x768+) version of your R2 image?

Woah, heaps of posts for me to catch up on...heaps of twists here! Not just in this round, but in all the other rounds.
Anyway, congratulations to the winners. I felt that I didn't do enough work in my previous two rounds, however, knowing that calibre of ctranter's skill I paid more attention to the kind of image that I want to make, knowing that I'll be knocked out :D
It was this round where I pretty much had no idea who did what (except obviously for my pairing).
Cheerios to MM! Hopefully there will be another one next year?
