haha thanks Streest, I'm just sorry to say that I don't know if I'm ever gonna finish it... Just one of my manyyyy projects that gets off to a good start and then I get all distracted and then it doesn't turn out that good (so it degrades as it goes on) until I get sick of it and jsut stop.... but that's not to say I won't do anything else with that character! :)
Mag, I notice your light source is on the upper left side. Okay, now look at the tree trunk-- it's basically shaded around the edtges. Technically, there would be shading on the right side of it as well, evne if it's very slight.... cozy lookin', tho!
arik, you're also in the warm spirit right now! nice work-- maybe you could define the eye a bit more? I'm likin the textures, though! :)
Man pretty soon everything's gonna be all warm and wintery (oxymoron) and people'll get warm just be visiting this thread :P
hhaah Natsia, glad you like Mr. Chompy... just gotta figure out the DNA to one first, theennnnnn you can have one!
the quality of that pic isnt good because I didnt scan it and I changed the contrast and brightness a little bit, so thats why some details like the eye got lost
e-than, I love that picture, its so.... bizzarre....
arikb that picuture looks pretty good great job,as to make it brighter there are plenty tutorials on the web that explain you how to ,basically with photoshop you use the curves controls ,also when you reduce dpi you lose details
tahn that picture looks awesome i love it ,is that your idea or did you copy it from somewhere?
yes tahn there is something definetly wrong with the shadow on the roots, thats because i dont know yet if they are sinking on the ground or just being above it ...
good job every one and happy thanksgiving :D
and dont forget to vote for me :grouphug:
haha thanks :)
yeah it's really bizarre, that's a good word for it! I did make it up, it's all original, just like everything else I post! P
happy turkey day to you all, as well. :D
here is a wip a playing with , just praticing shadings :)
ps and mouse

woooo! very nice! at first, I thought it was made in a 3D program!!!
hmmm the round orbs look a bit too sharp around the edges though, cuz everything else has a blurry edge. Actually... thats only for the smaller, baby orb.
VERY SWEET WORK!
I just got into photography last night and I'm loving it, so I'll prolly be doing that more than anything right now!
yeah, first i thought it was made in maya or 3dsmax. well done
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b192/hackuma/bajo.jpg
Mag, that is pretty damn sweet.
Cute little character, really nice shading. Nice one man.
tahn photography you said? i hope you wont neglect the ever loving flashkit art people will you?
arikb you getting better and better, still some minor proportion and perspective problems though keep praticing :D
thank you natsia for your kind words :)
ok here are some of my latest experiment using photoshop fluidify tool
http://www.paintek.com/doodles/liquid1.jpg
The first one reminds me of a Dahli piece.
Quite cool.
More importantly, love the Christmas avatar!
thanks natsia , not quite familiar with dahli i assume you meant Salvador Dali ?
here is another quicky based on the above theme :)

mag, I really like the last 2.... that's really cool!
And I also like what you did to your sig. XD
I reallyreallyreally love the last one, the angel... only complaint is that the pants look way too jagged on the edges... smooth that out, like the rest, and then add some more lighting. awesome, dude!
About photography, me and the forums... well I'm too lazy to size down the pics XD but yeah, I'm gonna redo my site and then I'll have a big part dedicated to photography, and IM ON VACATION NOW WOOT WOOT!! soooo you'll prolly be able to expect some changes soon, I HOPE!!
anyway... In art, working on a self-portrait. I'ts about 1/2 way done, though... In prismacolors, of course! :D
I'm also going to start workingo n an animation very shortyl for my school's film festival, so I might also post developments with that as well :D
I did this for my battle against Pointguard, I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out, so I thought Id post a higer res version of it up here.

argghhh natsia you had me jump off my seat :)
very coll picture indeed
i cant make out the black text though
lol, you dont like snakes?
:P
the theme was fear, so the text says : you have nothing to fear, but fear herself.
Thanks for the compliment mags ;) You know that last pic of yours is rockin!
lol natsia yeah lets say i'm not really fond of reptiles :)
what do you mean fear herself? are you inplying fear is a she :D
well... yes.
And I was playing off of all the old myths and things, women get shown in a bad light in most old ledgends.
I dont know if pointguard is a girl or not, but its also kinda "dont tread on me" thing :P
WHAT? It was a battle, you're allowed to be a little cocky :P
gj mag and nat.
Well, i just got into coloring. Here's my troll figurine drawn with prismacolors

Happy New Year's, everyone :D
Natsia, wow your snake lady's scary!
Arikb, congrats on the Prismas! yayyy!
May I suggest some stuff?
Consider buying a blending stick or 2 or 3 or 10... they're like a clear pencil that you rub on hard (pc 1077, "colorless blender" also by Prismacolor) annd they mesh all your colors together!
Try layering a buncha different colors... don't be scared to press hard and get dark tones!
You can also blend with the white pencil as well. :D
Good luck with those and practice lots!
hey man, thanks for the advice. so, do you get that smooth effect with the blending sticks?
Camel hair smudge sticks are good for graphite pencil. They're cheap and you can get them at any good art supply shop. Another hint is to use good quality pencils when you are doing colour, the better ones are usually water colours, the lead is softer and is easier to use when you're layering colours.
I dont like using them too much unless its with chalk pastels.
Too much blending on pencil drawings can rob them of thier depth.
yeah, the colorless blending sticks for Prismacolors (because they are a prismacolor pencil themselves) make everything blended AFTER drawing it.
you can still go over and add some details, like defining lines and hairs and stuff, but you can't really draw too much over them without getting everything waxy-looking.
I agree, too m uch graphite blending does loes depth! Actually I don't even blend my graphite works (unless the areas are super-light) because it ruins the crispness and definition, but that's just me!

No blending sticks yet
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...kuma/tenis.jpg
cool cool, lookin better! :D getting used to color, I see... now try blending diferent types of blues and perhaps browns with the colors on the shoes... Indigo Blue makes a terrific almost-black shade, but without being too harsh. What size set did you get? just try mixing colors more, don't be afraid to experiment with them, because that's the only way to learn about them. :D
thanks for the advise. Next time i'll try to mix more colors :)
what are you talking about?Quote:
What size set did you get?
Very Cool arkib,
The only advice I can give you is: when you've done prelim lines for a drawing, start your shading from the background of the drawing forward.
The reason for doing it that way : when you use pencil and start in the foreground of an image, the pressure you apply to your strokes is pretty much even right throughout, which means that a lot of the depth is lost. Starting in the back will help you (as the person drawing) see the depth, prespective and proper understanding of tone, light and shadow which will come across in the final image.
I think I'd like to see you using more shading techniques, they help with the above meantioned aswell.
Very nice drawing man. Keep them comming
