very true, fk needs that personal touch, it makes all the difference. I hope it doesn't lose that :)Quote:

personal touch? I hardly ever saw posts from the aforementioned.
just make it work faster, keep the same mods and mod style, and promote more growth via pertinent methods - I don't come to Flashkit.com for Casino ads, I come here for the newest Flash information and conversations...
LOL! I wonder what the click thru ratio is like on those Casino ads? 0.001%?Quote:

I think that internet.com knows full well that the FK community reads those newsletters ;)

Yay!!! She lives! :)
Great job guys. It was the personal touch that drew me to the coffee lounge in the first place. It's likely that won't continue.:(
Anyways, hope you guys pop in now and then.

Glad to see ya back!
Thanks once again to all the 280,000 people that make this site great. Especially those who manage all our silly commentary here at the boards. Your work never goes unapreciated.
Don't ya'll be strangers now, ya hear? ;)
I think you'll be surprised, I expect that John and Scott will do a great job and in terms of the lounge, not much will really change, at least in terms of the feel of the place. At least give them a chance first before judging.Quote:

I agree with jezza on this. I am sure that new admin people will not want to change the community, maybe not even the website it is located on (except to try and improve it).Quote:

FK is one of Internet.com's biggest drawcards in terms of numbers of hits and visitors, and it is certainly the biggest and most supportive SWF development site on the 'net.
Why change something that is working, even if it generates nothing but a high profile for the site owners.

Whoa, everyone's worried, I thought Scott made it pretty clear, in this thread as a matter of fact. Very few changes will be made, outside of server and invisible stuff. The community drives these boards, not the webmaster. If you have a concern, post it in Feedback. I'll be hanging out there and trying to keep up with everything.
Hey, look at it this way, the sheer amount of work that's involved in attending to the webmaster alias and monitoring Feedback will keep me from coming up with any bright ideas :}. Trav was a magician, there were no leftovers when I came in. It's sparkly clean.
The site will remain, Scott and I will have a system down soon enough, and it looks like Jezza and crew will still be here, I think everyone will come out of this happy.
Now, where's that remove-all-worries? button :}

Im seriously concerned about the quality of FK.
I dont believe in a Commercialised Community.
The only reason i can think of that Internet.com is taking over FK is money. They are NOT a company that is intrested in Flash.
FK should be what its about, Flash Development and Designer-Get-together meetingpoint. If this is modified in any way by the new staff i will see this community die in less then 11 months.
Just venting my feelings about the take-over.
To the "old" staff; Good things have been happening here, i am very thankfull for all the things you have done, i hope you made the right decisions this time.
Im sorry J starkey, but i feel that this community has already been changed as soon as internet.com showed their face.

It was always too much to hope for Jezza ;) What has become of bugboy though ... put out to graze in the fields :pQuote:

ps A big thanks to Trav for all the effort he put in over the last few months, most of which goes unnoticed by everyone.
This is exactly how I feel... my message just never came across as clearly as yours :PQuote:

We'll soon see.

I don't wanna highjack Scill's thunder. the thread was about them, and how good of a job they did. I'll try to clarify a few things and then ask that we take this to Feedback, if the mods feel it's more appropriate. I'll be happy to answer anything I can. I'll leave the forum up to the mods, though.Quote:

Internet.com is all about web development. So Flash is of interest. Not sure I follow you on that point. Take a head count of internet.com's websites and the content. I think you'll see my point.
As I say in a previous post, and is apparent everywhere, the community is the site. What interest would it be for internet.com to change this community? I see a pretty phenomenal one already, myself.
In 11 months, our intentions are for the smilie count to be quadrupled :} So whatever it takes for that to happen, is what will be done.
The internet.com change: what things did internet.com change, that you don't like?
And Scill, I would also like to commend the AU team, from the inside and as the new webmaster. You did a great job. To handle the load that this site does, the growth rate and all the content, is not an easy task. I wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing you around. Oh, type all your webmaster alias nasty messages in lowercase so they're easily distinguishable from the usual allcaps :}
Let's see... #1 change on my list is they found that the jobs forum on the site was in direct competition to another one of the sites they sponsor, and so basically the jobs forum was closed.Quote:

Now, the job links provided at FK are almost soley for Americans. I've tried searching and it is useless for those OUTSIDE of the US.
I mean, even the search criteria on jobs.webdeveloper.com has all the american states listed, and then one link for 'the rest'
anyways... I am leaving this tread...
it has be hijacked enough...
The australian team had my support all the way... and as long as they stay around a bit... then I'll be happy..
