exactly. And to clarify my rear ended hits. 2 of them were waiting at a red light to turn. one on a decline street, the other on the highway waiting to merge. I was stopped, and got smacked. no problems with my braking there, eh? another was in traffic, me turning into a street, and the car in the opposing lane (who was in traffic) was impatient decided she had enough room to pass me...wrong...took my bumper. one that took my car. it was raining, guy wanted to turn left. I stopped, and the three idiots behind me didn't stop in time. not paying attention. so from personal experience, no I don't have breaking issues...other people do....

I think it's utter bull****. True when you're younger you're put in that expensive insurance bracket. But they should evaluate the person every so often. Agreed - but your (not you, your - an understood you sort of thing) -- anyway - but your bad driving combined with their bad driving = both at fault? pffft doesn't matter and I'm not sure I even agree with what I'm saying. If you're a bad driver, you're a bad driver and younger people do seem to be more the culprit of this. 16yr old behind the wheels plus another in the vehicle = higher rate of accident ... 16 yr old + 2 = even higher rate (I think this is on TX Dept of Pub Safety sight or somewhere) <ramble ramble ramble>

See, I'm just posting in here cause I don't want to get in that whole GI Jane mess over there ... btw Mac, if you're reading this - it's like I told my husband ... Big deal, buddy - I can go buy one of those ;) ... And I think it's so cute how some women will stand up and - what's good for men is good for women, when dang, I look and me and my husband and there are so many levels on which we just react differently to things - If there's a problem - generally men just want to fix things and get on with it and don't worry over it and forget it after it's done ... typically (now don't go get anyone's panties in a wad, I said typically) women worry it, worry it some more - then want to talk about it. And hey - I don't care how 'equal' things ever become - there are moments in my life where I will NOT use the same bathroom as a man ;)

I totally believe that at 21 you should be able to lower your insurance if you have a 5 year record with no accidents or violations. A car is not complicated and if you can go 5 years without problems, that constitutes being a "good driver".

Although it's currently opposite right now, I believe women should have higher insurance rates. They are flat out worse drivers than men all across the board. The insurance companies reward them for being timid and indecisive on the road, and to me, that's the worst kind of driver. A speedy kid is safer on the road than a 26 year old woman who's afraid to use the pedal on the right. Ever notice how many of the accidents involve women? Just for the next couple weeks drive along and rubberneck (you know you do, don't deny it) to see if there's a woman involved. Chances are good that there is. The accidents involving 2 men are rare compared to women.

While we're at it, check to see if they're on a cell phone, before, during, or after the accident. Again, chances are that they are. Women cell phone users in a vehicle with more than 4 cylinders should have the highest premiums on the market.

That's the 3rd part of this rant: an indecisive person, 5'4 tall, distracted by a cell phone, AND IN AN SUV. SUV's should be treated as CDL class licenses, especially for women. Size and power alone are reason that women shouldn't be allowed behind the wheel unless experience (all you farm girls driving F-350s are the exception) or training warrants it. The overabundance of these vehicles needs to be reeled in -- for the environment and accidents.

When I'm dictator, a law will be passed prohibiting insurance for owners of cell phones without proof of a speaker or handsfree kit. Then, if the insurance company receives information in an accident report that the person at fault was on a cell phone, their insurance should automatically double. The next offense should quadruple, and after that, no insurance at all. In most states, no insurance = no license.

I'll be running in the 2016 election. Hope to see you at the polls in full force.

Simple truth is to always remember that other drivers are idiots!!! :D

I think for me, young drivers have accidents because of their inexperience but on the other hand there is also the middle aged (the guys who drive BMW etc.) have accidents because of their aggorence. At the same time, old drivers have accidents because of their response is not as fast as it used to be.

So I guess, there is no such thing as a perfect driver? :)

BTW, I could be wrong but do "disabled" drivers have a bit of advantage? e.g. hearing-impaired have a good use of their eyes, etc.? It makes sense.....

Ive been driving illegaly since 3 years ago, and I think I'm kind of a good driver, my mom thinks i drive very smooth :). I have my permit but i dont wanna pay $150 for the stupid driving lessons in order to get an "underage license" ...but i will eventually do'em someday this summer (<- starts tomorrow!!!)

BTW I went to Spain last week where I drove like 160km/h at some places, and my dad let me drive on the road to Andora (in a standard)! for those who have been there, you know how cool the roads are! and its a great place:D

When I was 16 I thought I was a great driver. Then I backed over a parked Saab, sideswiped a parked Ford Probe, and sideswiped my own mailbox, all in the first three months of driving.

I don't know that I'm a great driver now but I am a very cautious one. But the thing that made me cautious wasn't my mistakes, it was someone elses. Three years ago I was run off of the interstate by someone. I slammed into a tree doing about 70 mph.

I was furious at that person. They fled the scene leaving me on the side of the road dead for all the knew. And ever sense then I've been a very cautious driver. I never tailgate. I never fly up on people and I never go more than 10 mph over the speed limit.

Cars are dangerous. They kill people and these kids don't take their driving privilages serious enough.
