There just arnt enough involved parents. My parents ask me stuff all the time. on one side I hate being interogated but on the other it shows me that they care about me and if I go running around blowing up cars.

its a good thing that we still have some parents that care though, other wise the world would be a s**t hole

People that blame videogames (or any media for that matter) need to be reminded that violence and perdation are a part of nature. Playing a videogame, no matter how violent, doesn't have anywhere near the effects of being neglected / abused.

It'll be the scapegoat until something better comes along.

These kids are responsible for their own actions. The game playng rate and violence in video games have both been rising exponentially during the past 10 years, but the murder rate has been going down! Video games aren't the problem, and even if a few oddballs were affected by these games, then they already have some problems anyway.

violent video games do not promote, violence. If anything the prevent it. They help you get your aression out, like a big stress ball.

This is like saying that my kid killed someone because he drank water. Everyone drinks water (almost, there might be some people out there that live on milk or something), but they don't go shooting up people because of it!

I play violent games. Thats not a crime. I don't ever have the urge to blast the hell out of my school mates (well, I imagine that there head explodes like a watermelon, and that removes the anger)!

Video games are not the problem.

Parents are. Media is. Blame them all.

No offence to any Americans here, but why is it that most of the time it is always an American child that carries out these acts of violence? From going around and shooting people dead in high school, to imitating video games?

In my opinion on this particular issue, I blame the fact that the reason why kids of today do these kind of acts, is because they are sheeps of the media industry and do not use the powerful brain of theirs and think! I also do blame parenting, I mean they should teach their kids morality; that way they would know what is right and wrong, and would not get so easily influenced by violence.

I am 17, and I have watched violent movies, and played violent games for years, and I have not got a mental disorder. Thats because I am aware of morals...

America is one of the few country that make violent games. and america is the only place where if you dont sell some 6 year old gta vice city they will sue you

Dude, I was 6 and I live in London and was playing the Doom series...My friends also play violent games but they are not deranged either. England in terms of video games is very influenced by the Americans.

Being gullible is not an excuse, its just that I used my brain and knew that me getting this gun and shooting some odd zombie here and there that it was not real - its just a fantasy.

It happens everywhere. I can't help it the USA's headlines seem to be more on your television than your own local headlines.

yeah blame the videogame producers, because before video games were invented clearly there was no such thing as violent crime. :rolleyes:

And before the widespread introduction of the tv set, people across the world would happily all get along in perfect loving harmony, working out any trivial differences with polite discussion and exchanging of cream cakes and tea :p

In fact I've just spent the last 2 hours killing people on a videogame, lauching them into ferris wheels/water/crowds from 180ft up from playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (great fun!)but am I likely to go out tommorrow and attempt to recreate that somehow?

Where from? Well, if these kids were stupid enough to try and recreate a game, my guess is the parents left their gun cabinet unlocked...
