I've been smoke free for 4 years now and every once in awhile I do crave that cigarette but the cravings have died down considerably. This may sound like a weird way to do it but when i'm drinking or when I really crave that cigarette I get one from a buddy and "start smoking it" unlit of course. It seems to help kill off the cravings.
When I did stop smoking I picked up the habit of eating altoids or any kind of mints.
