Why would you ever need to do that?? all you are doing is assigning the button state functionality to the buttons that are on stage. Once that is done there is no need to go forward or backward in the loop for anything at all. It's a one time shot unless you go back to that first frame where the loop is located. Other than that there is no other functionality in there except to assign the button states.
my idea was not to use the loop for the navigation on a web page, but instead to use it as thumbnail buttons for a portfolio page. I wanted to add the functionality so the user has the option to either click the thumbnails, or click "next" to advance in the array and open the next larger image.
well that is something different. that would be assigned in another place. That loop does not give that funtionality to the buttons either. all of the on release stuff can be done in an outside function also. the next and previous buttons would need to be done seperately because the functionality is different and uses different coding for that.
how do i view .FLA files this seems to be the exact script im looking for as well!

You need Adobe Flash to view .fla files. That is the file format that flash uses.

both programs seem simular but i cant get it work as yet on swish!!
