I'm starting to think Sony should be brought up on charges for inciting riots.
Can you really blame them? I mean... every time a concert is charged with that - well, the band - that case is usually thrown out.
I blame the stores for not letting them sit inside!
I suppose not. But somewhere there's gross negligence. The f*ck-tard at wal-mart who decided to play death race or the malls who failed to provide security in the parking lots. Kinda puts a stain on the whole launch.
I can't believe people are willing to spend 10k on a PS3, sorry but that is just completely idiotic.
It's no more ridiculous than a crack addict paying a lot for their "fix." Same deal with these guys / gals. They have something wrong in their heads. I'm not going to say it's a bad console (OK, I will), but certainly not worth $3-10,000. Not at all.
They need a serious intervention, though imagining them a week from now when they realize they just blew $10000 on something they can now get for MSRP makes me smile. :D
Sheer madness!!!

Well someone got lucky

Haha. :D Though, if you read the fine print, it says "seller ended auction early." so someone must have offered him the $1250 buy it now price he was after. It's kind of shady because there's no buyer protection when it's behind the scenes like that, but the seller does it that way so he doesn't have to pay the percentage on the higher buy it now price. He only has to pay a commission on the $9.
$100 xbox 360!

Damn wannabe, keep it on the down low, I'm actually gonna try to get one.
Prepare for new riots next week (Sony does them weekly now :p ): http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2...ge-061117.html

"We are getting a second shipment next week, probably around the middle of next week," Matt Levitan , marketing and public relations manager for Sony Computer Entertainment of Canada, told CBC News Online on Friday. "We'll know by Monday or Tuesday when they will be available.
"We are flying in shipments from Japan and China, and will probably ship them directly to retail" instead of to Sony's warehouses, he said.
Levitan expects four or five shipments before the end of the calendar year, estimating each batch will be the equivalent of a quarter of the units available at launch.
Wow... flying them in?
Platform Sales TotalSad... the PS3 did in one day of sales what the 360 did all year basically. And the DS Lite is killing the PSP sales.
DS Lite 148,174 5,625,283
PlayStation 3 81,639 81,639
PSP 19,123 1,492,596
PlayStation 2 16,157 1,232,921
Xbox 360 3,864 95,393

Can't be bothered to find the article again. But did anyone read/hear about that guy that signed a contract to never purchase or own a PS3 EVER in his entire life for a $7500 VooDoo gaming rig? I think I would of done it too and just made my wife buy one :)
Looks like it's continuing on... the PS3 inspired madness. A couple of Gamestop employees also got caught saying they were robbed when they weren't and the 4 PS3's have yet to be recovered and they're looking at big charges.Quote:
While selling a PS3 soon after launch day probably paid some hefty dividends for those lucky enough to secure one, pistol-whipping someone in order to make it happen probably isn't worth the trouble. Apparently a cash-strapped (or completely crazed) Massachusetts duo couldn't quite weigh the consequences before taking action, and are now under arrest for "attempted murder and robbery." One gunman, William J. Robertson, is already being held under a $1 million (or about 600 to 700 properly eBayed PlayStation 3s, whichever you prefer) bond, while his 17-year old partner in attempted larceny remains "on the loose." While we knew the PS3 launch would potentially bring out the worst in people, unloading ammunition to get your game (or profiteering) on is just taking things a bit too far -- so while camping out weeks in advance for a next generation console may surely pay off in the short-term, we'd say pulling a criminal stunt to get one probably won't.
Sales dropping off... seems like it's about the games after all.Quote:
Sales of the PlayStation 3 in Japan fell by almost half in the first full week of availability, and low shipments are being blamed for the lackluster sales, say gaming company Enterbrain. The site had estimated that 88,400 consoles sold in the first two days of launch, but from November 13 to 18 only 43,378 sold. Sony will not comment on the report, but said it was continuously shipping new consoles.
Data for the US is not yet available, although it is likely that sales will follow a similar pattern. At issue is the Blu-ray disc drive within the console. Sony hasn't been able to procure the blue laser diodes needed, among a host of other manufacturing difficulties. The problems are also affecting game sales; PS3's highest-ranking title in Japan was Ridge Racer 7, coming in at #29.
Now maybe they'll drop the price in the US to Japan's price.
I actually got my hands on a PS3 the other day. Bleh. Nothing special AT ALL. The controller is the same minus the shock feature(which I knew but was hoping for something different). The games were pretty bad too. They had COD3 in there and it was hooked up to a Sony HD lcd and it was SO jaggy I almost didn't want to play it. I only played it for about 10 minutes and then moved onto Motorstorm. That game was decent game play wise but it didn't seem like anything next gen. I know these are all release titles and that once the companies have more time with the system they will program better games and really take advantage of the specs but right now if I had to chose I would pick up a 360 for mature gaming and the Wii for some fun and wait at least 1-2 years for Sony to get their ass in gear.
