Rhame -- that's pretty much how the button works now (the HTML is no longer used), but I'll try pasting yours in exactly... again, I haven't heard anyone else report that problem, but if you have it, I guess some others must.
The minimal site is still ~750k because of the 70 seconds of music, even exported at 56 kbps. I could separate them, but ya know what? I don't want to! :p
bvgroote - if you could pick one section background to change, which would it be? Which is the worst? And with the typography, are you referring to the pixel fonts, or the only non-pixel font I use (the one "about us," "our portfolio," etc. are written in)? The more specific the feedback, the better I can put it to use!
I just thought of this. Could it be because you are trying to open a swf instead of an html file?Quote:

I sware I am not just messing with you. I really dont get the pop-up.
Here's a test -
load v4, http://www.webfeatsdesign.com/wf4/wf4.html , and see if you can open any of the intros. They're all popups, and they all work on every computer I've tested (well, save for the v4 intro, which... doesn't exist... hehe).
Yep. I could open all of them. :)
I used that code I posted above on a project I am doing right now, so I know it works on my PC.
Here is the temp link. Only the first button opens a demo.
http://www.solidtorch.com/teststuff/...selection.html
And I just tested it on the pop-up generator with your swf. Worked fine. :)
Ok, copied-'n-pasted :)
Working for you?
yaaay!!! We have a winner ! :) :DQuote:

Please note than when I say the type I dont like, it is only for that particular word. E.g. If you are using the same font somewhere else and i dont mention it, it means that it's working well. Please also note that this is purely my opinion and I don't claim to be an expert nor am I highly educated in typography.
With that said here are my suggestions:

These are the ones that just stood out to me as being not quite right, I would not be surprised in the slightest if you and many others disagreed :)
Least favourite bg's
about, portfolio, accolades.
hope this helps a bit!
"After months of arduous labour, Webfeats is PROUND to present..."
Worse than having bad type, is not spelling it right :)
Wow, haha, 45000 visits and no emails about that.
Shows how important my content is ;)
I'll fix that, though.
Show off :DQuote:

hi webfeat,
why do you have to mention that you are born in the year 1986? Is that important for your client: the knowledge of working with a kid?
And please don't make the loading text on the minimalistic version selectable. thx
overall i really like your site - very unique and very fast. great. reminds me of widegroup.
and what about your weight? is that also important? and how tall you are?
IAF
well if there highering you then they will probably realise your age so there gonna find out sometime, wont they?
I dunno... it seems like a normal thing to just sorta list who you are. I don't think it hurts the site. I'd rather have clients know that I'm a kid upfront than find out later and be shocked (this has actually happened before, usually with unpleasant results).Quote:

I'll fix the loading text. Thanks!
Really? What was the reaction?
They completely cut off contact... thankfully, it happened before I had done too much work. They never really gave me a clear reason, but they did let me keep the first payment. Ah well!
dont judge a book by its cover. i think u did a great job on your website so i dont know why somebody would just turn you down like that just for being a kid. Personally im 16 and i love designing flash websites i havent gotten cut off like that but that sucks. People these days ;)
austin
webfeats man,
your site is cool, but the one thing that pisses me off about your site is the enter page! it says enter the "Whiz Bang" or "Minimalist" what that crap is that all about, whiz and bang are both popular words in a comic book not a webpage. I would consider changing it to just broadband or dialup.
thx,
sbandit
In reality, they're both broadband sites.Quote:

It's a style differentiation more than anything. "Broadband" and "dialup" implies that you should view the broadband version if you can. "Whiz-Bang" and "Minimalist" doesn't clearly imply which version "should" be viewed. It allows the user to choose, based on the sort of site he/she usually enjoys. Neither site is initially implied to be better than the other, as "broadband" vs. "dialup" would do.
:)
it is also much more interesting and shows character.
considering that the Qhiz Bang thing came fotrm this thread :D
We asked for a Less Whiz Bang site....
And he gave it to us
so there :p
I personally got a chuckle out of the "over the top whiz bang" thing.
Keep up the great work, mindblowing site, with equally impressive sound loops...truly inspiring
how many people here only viewed the one site? id say knowone. Same with any potential clients, they would view both versions. It just shows that you can do the whiz bang thing and minimalist thing. good work
just curious but, did u compose your own music??? its the best!
austin
hah, one of the best typographically designed sites. Definitely nice stuffs with the text over there.
For me i always go for the bigger whiz bang versions anytime, but both versions are equally good!
This is an amazing website.
Who's in charge of FK's Featured Site award these days? That's one I've wanted to win since day 1...and I'm a fairly active member whose skill has been developed almost exclusively thanks to feedback and inspiration from these forums...
:)
MadDog - Yeah, for the most part ;)
Think the moderators vote over it...or some of them do...I know Aversion's got a hand in it for sure. Talk to him.
Flashkit featured site for this? I don't think so. There are far more worthy sites out there and you already have a splash page littered with awards.
ummmm
1) he wasnt saying his site should win the award
2) he was asking who organised it, i.e. who chooses the sites
3) your a spanner.
1) Wasn't he?Quote:

2) Really?
3) "You're", works better.
hahahahaha
i recon he should win a another award!!!!
laughing my absolute buttocks off at point 3 bvgroote.
Well, if it's Aversion, I doubt I can win anything. He likes the simple stuff :) Maybe he'll take notice though. Who knows?Quote:

I think the links in the HTML portfolio all take me to the same site. Are they all PRN?
I did a Listen Up HTML site as well, but I lost it all :(
And aside from that, all the HTML work I've done has been boring. I only put the somewhat interesting items in my portfolio; I consider it more of a showcase than a complete list.
wow, unreal, i would like to know how many hours the site took the designer to make
Too many! I didn't even keep track. Plus, there's the fact that there was a 3-month hole during which I didn't work on it at all...Quote:
