I almost want to quote my previous post;)
Yes, well done. You put money on it?
Australia's through to the round of 16. w00t!!! BRING ON ITALY!!! :D
2-2 against Croatia, man the ref was shocking. 3 yellows and 2 red cards to Simunic who'd refused to get off after the first red card. Sheesh.
Wonderful to have first timers Ghana and the Aussies in the second round.
Australia ae going to trouble Italy while Ghana torment the Brazilians in the round of 16.

Its One World - One Cup - One Dream - No Superpowers.
The best of the European countries competing with war ravaged African nations; drug riddled South American countries ; the oil rich Arabian countries... all participating for the glory and everything is forgotten on the pitch - whether you are a superpower or from the third world . Thats Football for you. Breaking all human barriers of color, caste, religion.
Bull****. The cry "Yankees Go Home" was so regular, if I were on the US team, I'd just hop the first plane back home. Hostile doesn't even start to explain some of that behavior at times.Quote:

The US sucks at football/soccer. There were some rowdy people saying "Yankee Go Home" chants every now-and-then... and the US lost. Oh well... see ya'll next time!
Damn right!Quote:

You really think that people care about US politics or anything like that in the World cup?
Brazil played a great match yesterday! Ronaldo played great, after all the critic the last weeks. It will be a hard match for ghana next! I'm also looking forward to see Italy vs. Australia. Australia have played great football so far, but I think Italy is going to be very hard to beat.
No unfortunately;)Quote:

Seriously... It's stupid to think that the referee hates bush and therefore gives a penalty kick to the other team. Many americans think that the entire world cares so much about them and their politics, even though most people, in this case, just care about football.
I am not American. I am German from Dortmund living in America. I know how Germans feel about Bush and his government like many Americans feel about them and this transfers easily to the people themselves. And a referee is only a human being.
But don't let's talk about politics here :)
I am looking forward to the next games.
I don't personally think so. I'm just saying something about the "Yankee Go Home" bit... not a damn thing about politics.Quote:

And it may or may not have had anything to do with Bush.
I do have to say though the "Yanqui" spelling is going to end up on a t-shirt though... I gotta use that!
I agree. Let's not talk about politics. Personally, I think USA is out of the world cup because their team isn't good enough, and not because of bush.Quote:

Of course I wish Allemania (we will see tomorrow, if they are a step closer) and how about England or Brazil. It's a conservative guess. :)Quote:

Interesting (because to see the other teams loosing) would be Ghana:Australia for example, but rather unlikely.
Allemania... a step closer :)
They will either play against Mexico or Argentinia.
Argentina :DQuote:

I was rooting for Mexico too, but Maxi Rodriguez' goal was just incredible!
Yes, you could see that was in as soon as it left his foot - helluva shot. Another mistake by the ref, though, booking the wrong player. As Blatter said they're wired for sound so why doesn't another official tell him?
England v Ecuador tonight. England should win, and I'd love them to play with a bit of style, but I can see us scraping through 1-0 in a scrappy game, but then I always expect the worst so as not to disappointed.
Sorry to go slightly off topic, but these are both well worth a watch each.

Portugal vs. Holland. What a shame. 4 red cards.
I have never seen so many cards in one match.
Todays clash -
Will the Socceroos overturn the Italians and surprise everybody ?
+ another 8 yellow.Quote:

The referee is mainly to blame. :thumbsdow
I read the FIFA president was very upset about the referee and he may not be in another game in the WM.

Ah man, what a way to go out. I'd have preferred if we'd just lost in extra time, but not like that.
Well done Australia for getting this far.
The Aussies were really hard done by the Referee.
I think its time that they use technology to overturn such decisions.
Just imagine Italy go on to win the world cup now - what a shame.

Spain is the in-form team. Can France finally deliver a performance matching the 1998 form when they won the world cup ? Zizou holds the key.
That Italian went down like a $2 hooker. They should be banned from the World Cup.
I seriously think the Italy got though only because some big-cash-needs-to-be-made reason since high officials in FIFA were very upset about last cup when countries like Senegal, Turkey and Korea made into quarterfinals and high income customers in Europe lost interest. The World Cup has become too much about business and too little about game.
Shame that teams like Italy and Portugal are still continuing.
Isn't that true for every sport? ;)Quote:

This is the first time I've watched the World Cup and I have seen every match so far. There are some interesting games, but one thing I don't understand is the "diving".
Maybe it's because I don't watch much football, but is this seriously for real? I can understand players wanting the ref to make a call, but these theatrics, wailing, moaning, flying to the ground at the slightest touch...well these guys just look like a bunch of pansies! The best part? The stretchers! LOL! They crack me up. 5 times now I've seen players carried off on a stretcher. When they get to the sideline, they get off the stretcher and 3 seconds later are back on the field. Amazing!
I guess it's part of the game. Someone trips you up and you land lightly on your ass, but instead reach for your shin and wince in pain like a little school girl. I wish they would just carry on and play.
Did you ever play soccer?Quote:
