nice one indeed. I love the textures. The only thing i dont like is how at the bottom left corner of the cube, it looks like it kinda blends in to the card.

Overall I like everything about that image, however something is bothering me about the girl in the forefront. She's cleanly cut out and crisply done, but for some reason she doesn't quite seem to fit in with the rest of the image. I think perhaps making her a duotone in reds might serve to bring her in line with the vibe that is being projected by the other elements. I can't say for sure if it would work or not, but it would something I would try out and see how it looked. Another thought would be to give her a white outline...yeah, I like that idea better than the duotone one.
The 'problem' as I see it is that all the other elements are illustrative in nature then there's this photo just kind of stuck on top of it. The general lines are cool, and you've got the silhouette tie-in, but I think you need something to bridge the gap between the illlustrative and photographic styles.
And just so there is no misunderstanding I will say that everything else is good and then some. It's only that single element that is slightly out of harmony with the rest of the image. Nice work. :)
Thanks a lot for the feedback Rush, it's much appreciated. I totally agree with you about the photo not being 'connected' to the rest of the image. I didn't really see that when I done it and thats why I needed the feedback, gives me something to look out for next time :)

mhhh i like the way it's pulled together, and i like how you changed out a sword for a gun. I think the outline on the girl is a little rough. I like the brushing though.
I was gonna say to have softened here up as well as brought out the contrast of the reds. Something like dupe the girl image gaussian blur like 2-3 pixels and then set overlay to screen and adjust levels of the screened images as necessary.Quote:

rbs I'm really diggin your drop! I think the only thing I found a little distracting was the text under kung fu, for some reason a dark on a dark background does not work for me, but that my opinion.
chordmasta I see a lot of potential in your work dude. And also maybe the 3d cubes clash a little with the vertical Lines. What do I know!

Craig...i like where you were going with this one, but i seems you've overused the diagonal scan lines a bit. Take them out or drop the opacity so they're not so strong, and i think you'll be better off. I can't see the detailed part of the image, which should be the focus...it seems unbalanced. Other than that, not bad at all man...keep it up!
Side note (please don't take offense craig): Does anybody else here think that diagonal scan lines have run their course? Personally, i'm sick of seeing them...

And I do think diagonal scan lines are the most overused effect these days, but I just learnt how to do them and haven't got them out of my system yet. (I'm a Photoshop noob :) )
No, I understand...when i first figured out diagonal scan lines, i thought they'd work for SOOOO many images in just looking at them....but from a broader design point of view, Scan lines draw the eye from one point of the image to the other. If you don't have a strong transition then you shouldn't be using scan lines...they just overpower what you're trying to say.Quote:
