I've noticed a few projects that weren't listed in V3's portfolio section. There are about three or four projects (mostly video editing) that were done that are pretty slick. Only one of the links doesn't work. I used the not-so-easy-to-notice choice box to sample 3D or video or development examples in their portfolio.
The Bacardi video is the coolest in my opinion.

ojn reflection of my previous comments, and what tony said... a lot of comments have come down to personal opinion.
i personally like a site to be smooth, not jagged and raw.
but maybe thats what they were hoping for. a lsightly retro, raw look to the site but with seriously advanced coding and animation etc.
anyways. as far as 'mistakes' go, its just the m in the titles that i cant read... is this the font or is it off pixel?
and the punctuation error of 'inorder' which should read in order.
maybe being picky but i always spot spelling errors and it kinda narks me when i see well developed sites with obvious things like that.
anyways you know what i mean.
other than that i guess my comments are pure opinions on what i dont particularly like... but the site is growing on me.
maybe is was just expecting too much 3d and o.t.t stuff.

So needless to say we aren't the first to move in a direction catering to a different demographic.
I like it, at first I wasnt too sure but its grown on me. I started to like the colour scheme and the dynamic content seems to be working nicely.
Although they might want to use the btn.tabEnabled = false feature cos if you press tab a bunch of times it gets ugly.

does anyone know if 2a v1 is still on t'internet? ive only seen 2,3 and now 4, which blew my socks off 1st time i saw it. if you refresh it too many times and know when things are goin to appear and how they are, the violent thoughts towards the 2a folk go away a bit, but not a lot.
1 thing I saw that was kind of annoying was at the very left side of the horizontal menu, when you mouseover, the rectangle that comes up isnt in line with the horizontal line below it, looks very careless.

In the end, the demand justifies the reputation. In my opinion it's an excellent site and I think it's a revolutionary stab at a trend that I see starting with Flash sites.
My sole point, and one which may not be received with very much enthusiasm, is that they make their money. For a majority of the bad attention 2advanced gets, it's akin to a layperson, working 9-5, angry with celebrities for having it all. I've got nothing but respect for 2advanced as people and I think it would do you all good to follow suit whether or not you like the site.
In retrospect, some of you are abrasively attacking something that is, in the grand scheme of things, no threat to you. It's okay to criticize, but try it with a little tact. There will be naysayers in any industry, but why reduce yourselves to a statistic? Like it or not, there's no excuse for being a twit. Some of you act as though they've committed an afront to your right to life.
That said, the rest of you who have carried yourselves with a modicum of respectability will reap the rewards of not committing the ultimate act of self-prescribed idiocy. Abstaining from being "that guy" will prove you to be a valuable member of this forum. And I say that knowing that I have a small post count, which inherently limits the amount of testicular fortitude I can flaunt.
Good luck to you all, and especially 2advanced who has to combat some people's instinctual need for gratuitous libel.

IMO 2advanced have left them selves open to criticism. Us being aware of design fundamentals and what not find it easier to criticise because no-ones perfect. But proclamations of revolutionary work sets us up to expect just that, and if it isnt what it claims to me, who isn't going to attack?Quote:

No website is perfect, but no website I have seen has made such outrageous claims about the quality of the site, and when I see such simple flaws in the design, it really means that 2advanced have done an amazing job in promotion, but concentrated less on what is importnt to me.
Why is 2advanced, Whoswe, FI etc etc pinpointed and used an example of the best sites around. I personally have seen so many better sites that people just seem not to take notice of so therefore they have fallen short of becoming successful in our eyes.
and post count means nothing - I'm the most valuable FK member around and I'm hovering around 500 (not that I check ;))

Actually I see it as a direct threat to the design industry when our potential
clients now ask us for sea pods and space ninjas to be incorporated
into their site and young upcoming designers see this site and
devote their time to eye candy rather than typographic layout,
fonts, color harmony and site composition.
There will be naysayers in any industry, but why reduce yourselves to a statistic? Like it or not, there's no excuse for being a twit.
From what I see most negativity towards the new build in this thread
has been tolerable. I don't think there's any need for name calling
as surely then you're using the same tactics you're complaining about?

My point, my thesis, is to explain that no matter what is said and done, all of our opinions are opinions unless you've got the authority to change what people are allowed to think. And your rebuttal is a bit biased. The thesis of my post was not what I thought of the site. That was just an added note to keep along with the original reason for the thread.

No, I'm not saying the fact they make money is what declares the new version a revolutionary piece of work. I'm saying when all is said and done, they make money doing what they do, regardless of the fanfare the site receives from other designers with whom they aren't affiliated.
Actually I see it as a direct threat to the design industry when our potential clients now ask us for sea pods and space ninjas to be incorporated into their site and young upcoming designers see this site and devote their time to eye candy rather than typographic layout, fonts, color harmony and site composition.
And the people WILL decide what they want. Who are you to say? The very reason clients come to you is to perform a service they aren't capable of. That's not a threat, in fact, it sounds like you're afraid you're going to lose market share. I'm not, and nor should you be. And innovation should not be totally disavowed so you can strictly adhere to concrete design principals. Breaking design rules is not breaking the law.

Tolerable? Well, there are a certain few that stick out as abrasive, rude, and inconsiderate. But then again, I don't see a 30 page thread about their work. I'm not calling any particular person a twit. That's a general statement to those that lack the intellectual competence to formulate a tactful critique of the site in question. If I'm not addressing those that can express their opinions respectably, but instead to those that are rude and vulgar, then I don't think I've offended anyone but those that will be offended regardless.

As for my site,...if others designers attacked it, I wouldn't defend

I'm thinking you definetely misunderstood me on this one.
I said - no website is perfect, how is that subjective? It's realistic and in a way I'm jumping to 2a's defense in saying that people who criticise it for not being perfect need to take this into consideration. In fact I know that I would definetely never make such a simple design flaw as that, and because of their claims, I did not expect it. Of course not many other people would notice that, but I know I would, and thats what I am talking about, what I think, not someone else. When did I ever make a bold statement about their lack of talent? How dare you insinuate that.
Would you mind sharing some of those sites with use? I am not claiming who has the best site, but I still am curious in other cool sites out there.
