Those nudes are great! Have you experimented with bleach on your inks? You get some great shade and tone effects.

this is just my opinion (and hey what the hell do i know right?);
i notice that a lot of dudes tend to blur/smooth their work to soften the lines and gradients. after a while you see their images start to crisp up and i think they look a lot better. i don't think you need to use that softening anymore mate! your line work and shading can stand quite well without it
i took your image into corel photopaint (yeah ancient eh?) and applied a directional sharpen (100%) and i think it brings out a lot of the underlying detail (especially the hide on the dragon and the rug and tassels on it's back). try it, you'll see

a will try your method and see what happens but remember it could be because we might use different monitors, infact it might look blurier on a lcd screen while crispier on a crt me thinks :O

Here is a WIP, or rather, a finished practice drawing for my final test which is a self portrait. Aside from getting a better paper and leaving a light on my forehead and being more accurate with proportions, are there any suggestions?

I'm guessing it's sepia toned ink with a black pen outline?
For one-- what paper are you using? Bristol paper (or watercolor, but I prefer bristol for its smooth surface) works excellently with ink-- in fact I think that's what inking's supposed to be done on, for the most part!
Seconly, I like your second one a lot-- definitely a nice improvement from the first! One thing I'd suggest though is don't be scared to get too dark with your colors. As my life drawing teacher put it, there are 3 values to worry about in inking: white, mid-tone and black. I've never worked with sepia before, but I'm going to guess that it gets pretty dark. Don't be scared to throw in the darkest shadows with pure ink (without any water wash). this can really help make your inking pop out a lot more, providing mroe depth.
So-- looks good! only reccomendation is to go a bit darker witht he ink. Like I sai, I haven't dealt with sepia so I don't know how dark it gets-- try some black ink, looks like that's what you used for your outlines! (nice contour lines btw-- maybe add some in the eyelids and edges of the iris... also, add in some darker/thicker/(more) hair squigglies in the shaded hair area, it'll give it more definition as well.

as soon as I'm free (prolly sunday) I'll try to upload all my best stuff from LD... there's a bunch (and here are some inks to entertain you right now, if I haven't linked them here yet.)
the darkest it gets is the tone on the hair or under the chin (its pure ink). It is a weird type of ink. Darkening the contour lines on the hair and eyes is a good idea. I was already thinking of doing that but I wasnt sure if I should or shouldn't do it. Now I think ill give it a try. The worst that can happen is that I would have to do all over again O_o
as for the paper goes, im not sure what kind of paper i used, but i think it wasnt a good one cuz it got all rugged after the water dried. Luckily when i pasted it on the matt paper it looked good.

Yeah, if that's as dark as it'll get... hmm if you did cross-hatching that would clash with the rest, because the style you're using now looks so good!
If you get really scared to mess this one up... you could make another and just keep adding different things (ie, different colored inks, etc)... hmm, I've never tried mixing inks before, amybe if you introduced a black that would help enhance the shadows? hmm... well have fun.... I love working with ink, and the more you practice the better you get :D

That's sweet, Mag. I like the way the mace has crushed the ground and the shading on the girl is especially nice. (although I might be tempted to add a little more yellow to show a bit more reflected light) Great job! :thumbsup:

wow mags you are soooo good at colorizing robots XD Fun picture, I like it a lot! Girl's hair seems a bit too yellow and yeah, you might wanna add a bit of colored reflective light (ie on her arm on his head, just reflecting the metal). LOOKING GOOD THOUGH!!!
