Ay thanks for the comments, everyone :D Yes the fire was a bit of an experiment, i wanted it to be 'stylized' whilst keeping everything else realistic. Had I gone realistic with the fire, it should ahve been white/yellow with minimal orange and reds... oh well, it was more of an expriment than anything :D
arik, nice painting! ooo I've never painted anything in a life drawing class before. It looks like yes, the arm is definitely long, and the closer leg looks like it's got a bit of strange muscle definition.... otherwise, nice work! I'd imagine it's really hard to paint a model because you're limited on time and want to make it as complete as possible in what little time you have. hehe the censorship is kinda funny, methinks :D

No where near as good as some of the other stuff you guys have posted.

Great vividness to all your images, dewman. You also have a nice grasp of portraying reflective/glossy surfaces as opposed to matte ones. Nice stuff. :):thumbsup:

I quite like the use of colour in this one Mags! Lots of little details just noticeable underneath everything else give it a good sense of depth.
The only thing that bothers me a little is that some layers seem a little over saturated, which makes it seem like some of your detail has been lost.
Still, good feeling behind this one (personally) makes me feel warm and fluffy, almost nostalgic.

The previous to this last was a bit better in my opinion. The latest one looks too much like it's been run through several standard filters. You might be able to make what you've done already work, but I think everything could use a lot more blending. I also feel that you could build up a lot more depth. Right now the background almost looks like it's on top of the the foreground elements.

I'm also finding the black lines around the ear and neck to be a little distracting. To me, they are lending to the impression that the image is unfinished. The outlines for the forehead, nose and eyes are much better for instance, in that they have a softer and more refined appearance.

Just my 2c. :)

I don't know much about 3d stuff but it looks to me like the armature is a bit flat I mean the chest and the buttocks should be a little more prominent perhaps you should post a profile view of the armature

2 evenings :D (I placed a Biped under it,- so it wasn´t that hard getting the right prorpotions) , no splines no NURBS,- I used subdevision modeling so basicly quad- polygons wich are later subdevided to get rounded shapes. The reason however for it beeing so popular is that when you add many edges/poygons to each other the dubdivision result get more edgy- and when using less edges in the base mesh it gets more rounded and smooth. A very powerfull method - gives the easiness of polygon modeling with the visual quality of Nurbs models.

though usually it´s enough even for production using just 2 subdevisions,- using to much can break down the performance dramaticly.

I prefer the first one too- it has more texture. That 2nd one looks kind of a sick person puking her organs out (hopefully you are not yourself reflecting in that picture).

I basicly just posted it in my tank-move thread (game title) - but since here are more people focused on just art - I´d thought about posting it here as well (there are also renderings of tanks with nice textures- check the thread for those)

the only thing i use is photoshop 7 and a pen tablet
i used to sketch on paper before and then scan it and then bring it to photoshop , but since i got my pen tablet i do everything in PS
