I think something about the image is off balance but I can't place my finger on it. :\

Ok, confusion clarified, on with the show:

i think this thread is getting messy, unfortunately.
i dont know who follows who anymore
Zacaboo, nice job. That is one of your best images I feel. The only thing I would have done different is have the entire word 'dancing' be in front of the white sillouette that way there is more contrast in the text.
well done :) I like how the hearts get small to the size of the stars.
Unfortunately typography is one of my weakest points. I am trying to play a little more with it and experiment.
Does anyone know of a good place to get your hands on some quality free fonts?
creativeinsomnia gave me one at one point but I lost the url.
Are you kidding me Zacaboo, that is one of the finest volleys I have seen from you. I love everything about it. The colors in the background work very well together. I like that soft painted like quality of the backround a lot. The only thing that would have worked a little better is probably what Dri pointed out.
Jujumon this thread since I first contributed to it has always been....
Just drop a quality image and that's it. That's why is an open battle.
Peace fellas.
3P I actually think the colors work better in the second one. Cool volleys all around guys
I've gotten a ton from dafont.com. 1001freefonts.com/fonts is another one I've gotten some useable fonts from.Quote:

Thank you for the crits fellas, I agree with the text. Dri, the hearts and stars thing was a happy accident haha :shhh:
Juju, I agree with nep. I think as long as you're working hard and making your best work then that's all that really matters in this thread, and on this forum in general. The whole tennis idea is just a good way to give each other something to flow from when we often feel that dark, hollow creative block. What I've gotten most of all from this forum is more freedom to worry less about mistakes and just go all out until I find something that works well, picking up new techniques and getting into the habit of taking risks... that's more important to me than the order of returns. I don't know if that makes sense but I'm sure you agree if you understand what I mean.
3P, what an interesting idea! It takes my mind in so many directions, like way computers are set up to digitalize the traditional ways of storing information, and the taskbar just below the "window" of the book says just that for me. I think you chose a strong composition for this piece. I was just thinking that the grass is too saturated because it pulls me away from the what's going on behind it, however the book is so interesting that it's almost a great tension that keeps me staring at the image until I'm completely satisfied. 'Nough rant, great work.
nep, zac: i understand completely and i agree. Although i always like to see how ppl. incorporate previous elements into theirs one, without any orders it's kinda hard to see which element from which pic they are using.
but not a big deal, carry on guys. All the images show great quality [sorry i cant give more meaningful comment now, kinda snooping away from work to do this ;)]. I hope to get my image up again whenever im free
Thanks for the kudos Zak. Well the idea for the piece was to make the viewer feel as if they were a part of the "natural" world rather than the plastic and steel most of us are used to. The heavy grass look is supposed to be like a barrier between technology and more natural elements like wood and paper. I didn't want a surreal feel, but rather hint at the idea of using technology in a way that is both usable and natural, rather than plastic coated and precise.
If I had to name the piece again I might call it "Balance".
Thanks again,
3P
jujumon.... if you look closer you will find them.
3P I've always been a fan of your work. I was just looking at the battle between you and pea... top notch work. Peace.
wow, stunning work 3P....im really into it, nice job working the other image into the center of your book, nice job!
check this out guys

arzuaga123 : You have to remember to read the rules of the thread you're posting in. This is the 2nd time you've wrongly posted that image. The image must contain an aspect from the previous volley, and also be 700x350. It's a pretty cool image...just take a minute to read the rules.
Wrong thread but that is pretty tight, arz. Is that the best res you can give us? I'd love to see that at least 600px wide for a little more detail in certain areas :yarr: . I like how you treated the boxy texture on each side by inverting it to maintain a healthy balance in tonality. I also admire how the distant chick is similar in her pose yet physically someone else because it makes the image more dynamic, yet it isn't so abrupt that the depth of the piece is reached immediately. I'm sure you're thinking I'm talking elementary but I would just like to point out your very simple technique to many of the FK members who are looking for a fresh tool to play with. ;) Good work.
ran outta time to spend on this so here it is unfinished, spent to long cleaning up the girl :(

Wrong thread maybe...?
Haha, good call.

heh...no, right thread, wrong size.
i was just bored, and i have been sitting in the house all week so i kinda added a bunch of random things together. This was in no way supposed to be a serious thing, it supposed to be a joke :) but i will resize, and post again?
sorry for taking so long. 'was busy with other stuffs.

ill call next
I have never called next in this thread. Doing so and not being prompt like Jujumon is not the way to go. I don't know who came up with this calling next, but then again I joined this thread last year.
Just make your volley and drop it, this calling next thing.... I don't know dude, it's almost like someone will be at your mercy when you decide to drop.
Anyways great image Jujumon, I likes a lot.
in my opinion, calling next is absolutely fine. and he only called it yesterday- give the guy a chance!!
not so much recently, but a while back when this was busier if people didn't call next, it got all confusing and out of sequence with people volleying off the wrong images.
ppl dropping great images is the most important thing in the arena.
However, i think calling next shot make it fair to everyone because the rule states in this thread that we must use element from previous pic.. I mean, it is a challenge to be working off someone else's work, but id also like to see how another person will work off my image as well. If there are no orders everyone will just dump their pictures in and some people will not get to see their picture 'worked off' from someone else.
I know what nepzap means about the 'just do it' mentality, but i also think of this "use previous element'"restriction as a 'challenge' rather than a creativity blockage.
Also, the person who calling next shot should have the responsibility to acknowledge others if s/he cant make it on time. i think 2-3 days period is reasonable (that's why i apologised for my last image)
...all in all im not very serious how anyone wants to play the game though ;)
I think everyone should just do what they feel until a moderator calls them out. We're not all going to agree on everything and newcomers will always present a discrepency, intended or not. Happy manipulating.
here ya go killaz.
the reason for the calling is because like others, i was onthis thread when muliplte volleys a day would be dropped, and i wanted to make sure that i used an element from the real previous image. just to keep it clean.

thought i would bring back a little of the original spirit. crit(ique)(icism)
Wierd picture. I am not sure why there is a plate with a bun and a hamburger man.
the bun looks very flat.
Perhaps an interesting use of the burn tool or shadowing.
The color in the font is and the color on the bun/burgerman... i am just not feeling it.
Perhaps choice of words on the "where's the fu?"
It seems very slangish in a not so slangish environment?
no what I mean?
Anywho
Love
mike
Ever seen the where's the beef commercial? i tried to make it something like that, but "Fu" for Kung-Fu, the name of this thread is "Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting" and there hasnt been a karate-related post in a while, so the "burger man" is a karate person kicking.
I suppose if you have to explain your volley, that means the point wasnt made :-D Thanks for the critique mike.
yeah, took me a bit to understand the pic but i got the point. the burger a bit flat coz there are no shadows, it looks almost like 2dimension. The title is a bit pixelated i dont know if u do it intentionally or not but it somehow doesnt matched with overall. You probably need to watch the bottom sentence where the end part overlaps with the silver tray.
but your idea is kinda funny [in a good way] because it's like a man is crying because he hasnt seen kung fu action for awhile. well done
yay! you get it. haha. thanks. looking back the burger is painfully flat.
hmm...you know i'd say the burger matters less about how flat it is, but how small it is. The plate seems kind of barren, so it seems the burger wasn't sopposed to be there and was put up as a last minute resort. Maybe enlargening it, or adding other foods to the plate would please me more, but heck...thats just me
by the way...i'll have something up by tomorrow morning, i have it ready, but i just need to re check it...kind of off the subject though, its snow white.
nvm...i got bored, i'll just do it now, heck its only the kung fu fight...not really that big a deal if i made a big mess up...anyways, here it is.
