yeah the thing is, everyone tries to think up a reason for us to be here, so maybe thats our purpose in life: TRYING TO JUSTIFY IT

haha...
In my opinion, I think that we evolved. Im not nessicarrily saying from what, but I think so. I mean I think that people are ignorant to say that every other species of animal evolved from something else EXCEPT humans. I mean, we are soo special (not). Were just like any other animal, excpet that we have a higher learning and thinking abilty.
I think im going to go make a grilled ham and cheese. Yum.
well, that thinking bit makes a hell of a difference, i mean, which other species has reached a social and technological level even remotely close to ours?
the thing is, since humans and/or humanoids held this higher thinking ability, it is unprobable that we would have devolved into 'dumber' animals, dont you think? thus since evolution means 'forward', it seems logical to assume our mental abilities avolved from a dumber state, thus, other animals existing at the time.
The soul needs choices in order to learn.Quote:

As far as the control part, if I was to give you this sentence " I went into the car and got my________and then I went into the house to ________it." You could fill that sentence many ways. You could say you went into your car and got my magazine, and then went into the house to read it. That would be one outcome. You could also say you went into the car and got your gun, and went into the house to shoot it. That would be another. You are still in control, but not completely. Life is like this for the soul. Depending on what we fill in the blanks, deturmines if we've learned something or not.
Ahhh! Headache!
I need to go eat my nice hot ham and grilled cheese sandwich now. ahh so suculant, warm, slides right into my stomache.
well, if we're filling in the blanks, we're in control. and the idea of a soul is a belief, you may believe in a soul, i may not (i do actually, but im just trying to look at it objectively) so our opinions would differ.
and i think we will always learn, irrespective of the words we use to fill in the blanks, and if we learn more or learn less, its still our choice
Wow...
It would depend on how you were raised, and what kind of person you are, on what you would fill in those blanks. Your in control to make decioisons, but how you make them are effected by how your life was.

i hear my stomach growling....
so go make a turkey sandwich...
yes....but many people have been raised one way, and chosen a different path in life, everything influences us, but we choose our path, and also what influences us (for example, i have chosen not to be influenced by certain things, like say, smoking, even though the vast majority of my friends do)Quote:

well, you have a point. there are too many factors in life that affect our ways of thinking, of acting and in decision making. but we have 2 things also:
choices
the ability to make the final decision (unless youre killed by someone else or mother nature, but we were in control up to there, those are just 'freak' accidents)
if we are not in control of our lives, who is?
destiny? (then read my footer)
i dont have any food (im in my dorm...if i was at home id be invading the kitchen by now)Quote:

yeah, thats exactly what I said before.
You can choose not to believe that you have a soul, but that doesn't matter to your soul. At least not any more than not beleiveing that you have feet, and then walking across the room.Quote:

Everyone has a different (for lack of a better word) script. It all depends on what you need to learn. Even though you will always lern, it does not matter, because what's important is that you learn specific things.
yeah, thats why i quoted myself.....
i thought the same thing
well, by assuming we have a soul like we have feet is a biased assumption, but im not saying that youre wrong.
what are those essential things we must learn in life?
The reason you are is quite simple - to serve and obey me.
I don't think that there is enough evidence to assume anything right now. Im not going to believe anything untill there is evidence. The only think that could possibly be some is the Bible, and everyone if already finding flaws, and what accually happened (especially if you watch the history channel). Untill I see some prof then im going to still be Atheist
well, do you believe in anything you cant see, touch, smell, hear or taste? like love (well, you can taste..uhh, never mind, ignore this post hehehe)
Well, if there is no proof or evidence that something is there, than its probally not. Im not speaking physically, like a bananna or a HOT HAM AND CHEESE SANDWICH, im talking about spirtually. I mean we assume something is there, but where did this assumption come from? Was some old dude sitting in front of a tree, and said "Oh well we should write a big book, of make up stuff so everyone can question it"? I mean come on. What proof is there except the bible?
Everyone has different things.Quote:
