I've actually gotten a kick out of this character [elvis]. I for one believe he truly is an 11 year old who had access to the University of Indiana's computer lab (probably one of his parents is a student or employee). If he was perpetrating a hoax, he did a marvelous job and dedicated a lot of time to it. He showed up at another forum a few weeks ago and asked for opinions on his new nickname [elvis]. He was ridiculed a tad, and came back to Flashkit.

For those wondering where he is now, I think he said he got banned from the computer lab, and would not be on as much.

Remains to be seen. I don't think you've heard the last of him.

I think he's an eleven year old kid, whose mother enrolled him in summer school (Tanglewood? whatever). Remember his post that his time is really torn right now. Give him till the end of the day--bet he responds.

I had a friend who got hooked on MUDs a long time ago in college. He was on there all the time in the little computer lab in the dorms...how do I know? I was right there with him. :) Well, after a while, he started playing this female character. Now, female characters were few and far between because the majority of players were male...big revelation, I know... So, he started getting chatted up and given virtual gifts (roses and gold coins and such) and he even went so far as to "marry" (inside the MUD) one of the other players.

Then, the other player wanted to meet in RL. When he told him that he was really a guy, the player was crushed. Our whole IP was banned from the MUD and I had to plead to get my character set back up. As far as my friend goes, he just blew it off and started up again at another MUD. I don't understand it. In everything else, he was ok, a pretty normal guy, but in there, with anonymity behind him, he was a complete jerk.

I don't know. Just don't let the anonymity go to your head. There are real people behind the nicks and typed letters.

very very true kraken. this is the only forum on the internet that i have ever used that is closest to feeling like there are actual people acting like themselves behind the screens. i dont know why. i think it is probably because we are all very mature designers and just want to be a part of something as cool as this. now :im: on the other hand just wanted to get noticed by stirring things up and acting like a complete fool. he accomplished this by starting fights, cursing, and acting like he was from another country. he just wanted to be the center of attention.

There has been a confrimation that he is in fact in college. I will not say who the source is but, If they want to post they can. Like I said if you look at everything I posted as well as the IP address that was traced back to the US. (A long while ago, IM / Elvis / Dainial Claimed he was in Russia) you can look at the evidence and deduct this for yourself. I think he should answer the questions. Its been over 15 hrs since this was posted. He has had plenty of time to respond. The air has been let out of the tires. ;)

Gee Pope! Now if you could only catch those crazy cownappers all would be well again. hahaha!

Pope, you may be retired but you will always be a copper. You have the perp in your scope and you won't let go. I went back to "im"'s first post, what he said--was he posted on a .ru board, not that he lived in Russia. I'll be the first to admit that I've found him to be an obnoxious little bugger from time to time. But I want hard fast evidence. If you read all his posts, either he is developmentally or psychologically delayed, or he is a kid trying to shine in a world of adults. Most of the design stuff he submits comes right out of text books, if you look at his sites closely most of that isn't new to world--it's vaguely cloaked imitation. His comment about stopping drinking--kids try to sound more grown up than they are just to impress their peers. I did when I was a kid, I am sure you did too.

Pope, don't get mad, but 15 hours. If the kid's mother made him go to bed and then he had to go to school, that's not so long. I am just trying to be the devil's advocate and keep you an honest cop. Give me a link to entry where he said he lived in Russia.
