Major downsides of K-Meleon, if you want to call them that;

1. No Built in E-Mail. You will need your own E-Mail client. Endura, Pegasus Mail, ETC are all good free E-Mail Clients. Off Coarse if you get MS Office, Star Office, or Corel WP Office an E-Mail client is included.
2. No History.
3. No Slide out Bars or silly search windows- Its just a simple browser.
4. Only allows 256 Favorites.
5. Multiple SWFS on a page drag it way down and may freeze the browser.
6. No built in HTML Editor.

Major Upsides of K-Meleon;

1. It uses Embedded Mozilla so it is as CSS and ECMA Compliant as Mozilla.
2. It Uses Mozilla/NS Plug-Ins3. Becuase it uses native Windows Widgets it is faster and smaller than Mozilla.
4. Since it is just a simple browser it is much smaller than other browsers.
5. It is completly customizable- The code is avialble via GPL and NPL.

Yeah, i forgot to mention, if i did a format, i probably won't go back to IE--any version!

And you guys are making it so hard on me, making each alternate browser seem good:D So here's my question, i need a browser (pretty fast, but i do have Cable) that supports ALL javascript (pop ups, like estudio.com) AND flash support. Thanks.

Well K-Meleon, Mozilla, Netscape all foot that bill but you have to remember that they are all the same browser rendering engine so the Javascript and Rendering is identical- well except that NS 6.2 is older than the latest K-Meleon or Mozilla. Opera would be a good choice also although it isn't perfect with JS. For some things you have to have MSIE for- I tried to file my taxes Online and most of them force you to use IE. You also have some Bozo designers who design only for IE instead of sticking to standards.

Alright, so if i were to format then, what should i use, IE6 or IE5? (and if IE5, which version, 5.1, etc.)

I would suggest that you use whichever version of IE is included with your OS.

What most users of alternative browsers (like myself) do is use these browsers on a day-to-day basis, and keep a copy of IE handy for problem sites. When a site doesn't work with you r alternative browser, often, simply e-mailing the webmaster of the site will have them doing leaps and bounds to correct the problem.

I have an IE problem too, it just started for absoulutly no reason a week ago. When I shift click on somthing, or click on a link that brings up a new window, the content of the new window doesn't load

hi all
thats is some thread on an object expected error. as far as i know those errors with the triangles in the corner usually mean that there is a problem with the script. the browser is looking for an object that is no where to be found in the js. you may only be seeing it in ie 6 because it is a new browser and the js may need to be tweaked for this version. (an exmple[a loose one at that] of what i mean is that not all browsers support frames so for older browsers one puts the noframes tag.)

btw...sites such as aim.com don't even work, and to top it off, all the sites that aren't working now, worked a few months ago with my computer, and with the same IE6.

that article just proves there is a bug in ie 6. which reminds me. does any one ever have a problem with style sheets in ie 6? ie: sometimes they decide not to display.

look for an udate first b4 cintacting microsoft. they my have a public fix for it by now :)

there is a security update that was just released march 28th. that one would be under critical. did u also try the windows site for any updates. http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
then if all else fails contact microsoft.

Just thought you would all like to know, i finally fixed the error, without having to format, etc. A few steps until it worked, but i have no more errors, and can finally see estudio.com again!!:)

I'd like to thank all of you for all of the help, and for keeping this thread alive, when i'd given up hope, thinking i'd have the error forever. I'll leave this open for another day or so, in case anyone wants to know exactly how I fixed it (if you have the same problem).
