I didnt install there. i only have acrobat reader there :(.
That link i downloaded the one that is like 1.3 meg. Does that only installed the activeX controll into FF or does it actualy install the standalone player as well?

If it doesnt can some body please post the link to downloading the standalone player, i couldnt find it on adobe.

some cool physics simulations could come of the sound thing.

Imagine a squid or jellyfish (something with tenticles) swaying to mozart ;) or a springy grid bouncing to Metallica, would be really good for web sites. And i'm sure we'll see heaps of stuff like that when AS3 becomes public ;)

Sorry, I thought you downloaded and installed whole AS3 Preview Public Alpha. If you only updated Flash Player then it does not have standalone player.

P.S. Anyway, if you really want standalone player too, PM me and I will send it to you (its 1,2M when zipped).

I think microphone-based games could be made, the spectrum of original song could be saved and then compared to the current one, better singing gives more points. Or if you are really into it, create speech recognision and let the player control the game by saying the commands.

Actually, FP9 makes it more possible to make a GTA-like game, with real collisions and stuff, as they dont need faster drawingspeed, but faster calculations:)

"Transparent windowless" or "opaque windowless" wmode seems to work for firefox and IE. My input wasn't blocked. The game in the browser ran at its proper speed as specified from Flash.

If I remember correctly it didn't use to work for firefox.

I noticed too that FP9 with "transparent windowless" actually works in Opera now, but it still runs only at half speed of same movie in IE.

Yeah, Mr.malee, the garbage collector is a lot different.

You can't just 'remove' objects(by deleting all references to them) as you could in earlier versions. The player waits until there is enough performance to remove the object, so that means if you say have a sound object gameLoop, and it was playing along, currently if you deleted it, the sound would stop. But now, after you call the delete it may take awhile before it is actually deleted, so the sound will continue.

So whenever you delete an object in AS3, make sure you 'incapacitate' it. (Eg stop sound, onEnterFrames and what not).
