A few anti-virus firms are reporting that there is a virus spreding using the extentions feature of Firefox. The trojan has been named FormSpy and Sophos has been dubbed Troj/FireSpy-A. It captures information from the browser (like passwords and bank details) and send them to a remote computer. The trojan also comes with a file that Windows can execute that also records ICQ, POP3, IMAP and FTP passwords. The trojen pretends to be the legitimate Numberlinks extention.
They finish by warning us all:
Meaning? you can download firefox, but don't install it.Quote:
You should remember this virus will only get onto your computer if you let it, it does not exploit a weekness in Firefox.
And it's OK, discussing is ok. You have your points of view, I have mine. Whatever you say though, I just won't install it, because I'm really afraid of aliens. I don't want that aliens abduct me, like they did with agent Mulder's sister.
I think that this "firefox" is a myth.
He's real...Quote:

I am internet web safety cautious. I only download internet computer system files sent to me from people I know.
I downloaded the firefox installer, and opened it using notepad, then search for the following text:
SUR, then i search ALI then VEY then SKY then NA then CAT
guess what? all those words were in the installer source code.
I know, I know, it makes no sense, but wait, let me reorder the list:
CAT
ALI
NA
SKY
SUR
VEY
still nothing? let me join the words: CATALINA SKY SURVEY !!!!!
You can't find the whole words at once, because the code is encrypted, but if you search how i did, by parts, you'll see that it is there.
If this doesn't convince you that firefox is a bacteria developed by aliens and used by the Catalina Sky Survey project to infiltrate nasa, and infect all of us to avoid we fight back when aliens invade us, and there are organizations like the W3C making sure this plan gets achieved.....if this isn't enough proof...I just don't know what is.
Firefox is for liberals like the Clintons and all those whiny hippies who wanted to let Saddam build the bomb. You know who uses it? Europeans and the French, because they think they by boycotting Microsoft they'll make a difference. Friggin' whiners. If we hadn't bailed them out in WWII they'd be speaking German, and this is the thanks we get.
These liberal jerks are always looking for "alternatives" and trying to run upstream. There's nothing wrong with IE, more than 70% of the web uses it. Really grinds my gears.
don't forget canadians...canadians use firefox, too
Blame Canada! Blame Canada!
Oh God, the eyes! The eyes kill me! Nice job.Quote:

I'm surprised that no-one has brought up any other browsers within this topic. Sure, it is about Mozilla Firefox, but there's a couple points where browsers like Flock could be brought into this. What about all these other virtually unknown browsers? Are they part of an evil scheme too? :)
Argonauta,
Well, you seemed to have proven your point, very well, but there's still some confusion as to how it can be a biological organism -- a virus -- when it is simply a whole sheet of computer code? I still cannot make any discerment from that even after reading some of those articles -- the pieces don't fit together.
Also, IE interprets CSS too.
This is the summary of my point: CSS is interpreted in Internet Explorer too... so why don't you go after it too, if in fact, CSS is an organization?
Once again, it just doesn't seem to fit. Internet Explorer parses CSS as well... so why are they pointing fingers directly at Firefox when they both do the same thing? Sorry, I just can't make a relation.
I had a talk with my mom about Mozilla Firefox and how someone on the Flash Kit Community Forums says that it is a better internet browser than Microsoft Internet Explorer. What really bugs me is that my mom had the audacity to call Flash Kit a bunch of "inept jack-asses".
I'm pretty sure that IE, Opera and a few other browsers have all been mentioned.Quote:

I don't know about Opera, because I prefer to listen to Techno, and I don't see what music has to do with aliens....but, why not IE? because everybody knows that CSS in IE is broken, so it doesn't work correctly....it tries to parse CSS info, but doesn't do it in the way the W3C recommends. That's why IE is safe, because it can't send info to the CSS. And you can thank Microsoft for that.
You mentioned Flock, which my research says it's a version of Firefox, with more features added intended for people to blog about their cats, whatever that means.
No, they mean Flock like a flock of birds. Running around in a group like a bunch of commies. CSS - Communist-Socialist System.Quote:

Some people say this was the best article they've seen in months, in fact, best article of the year? What do you have to say to those people?
I'm sorry if this thread reflected something to make me look like a communist -- to tell bluntly -- I am all against communism thank you very much.
well, but there you go, you and me couldn't understand it, but aliens have more advanced technology, so for them it must be really easy to create a biological virus and put it in a computer.Quote:

no man, don't quit, seriously...everyone has the right to believe whatever they think it's right, and up to now, you've also proven firefox may be useful. I won't install it because I'm afraid, but I may be wrong, and you may be helping millions of people reading the article to find a better browser....but not me, I just don't want to try it. :DQuote:

p.s. when I use firefox, my web time sheet says it only works with I.E. Does that mean that the company who made the software is a bunch of aliens trying to put bacteria in my time sheet? I'm confused...
