I have to say i am really loving the weather sim in the game. I am also loving the mood lighting to.
I've herd a lot of peeps talk about how it's hard to drive in the game. I see no real noticeable difference from previous versions of the game. It was always a **** to drive anything. Though some cars are better than others on handling.
I just did my sniper mission. Man that was cool.! Again GTA doesn't let down on giving a real sense of height. Messed a bit with the on line mode death match. Again i wasn't disappointed.
I do have some complaints. A huge percentage of the cars have AWFUL handling, the weapon aiming system is SO bad- I was just in the mission where you are in that abandoned building trying to get something back and it is full of bad guys. Trying to lock in on them was so a pain in the ass it will lock in on people you can't see through the walls before the guy right in front of you?!
back to killing...
After about 25 hours into the game it's still amazing, but there are definite issues:
- NPC path finding is weaaaak. So many times the person following me will be running blindly into walls and getting stuck on signs. Ever ride a cab and tell him to hurry up? If anything gets into his way he turns into a roomba, hitting everything to calibrate his surroundings.
- Gears of war and Rainbow six vegas spoiled us with the cover systems. While it is cool being able to cover on just about anything (including cars) I find myself getting stuck to the wrong objects, not sticking at all, or if I try to get out of cover, tapping right bumper makes niko run to the next closest cover. A pain in the ass when enemies are all up in your face.
- More realistic handling of cars doesn't always make it better. I expect it from games like forza, but it doesn't work so well in the gta universe.
- The aiming is based on Niko's view, not yours. Since he stands to the right of the aiming reticle, shots you think you should be making are hitting walls. The same goes for the lock on aiming. Enemies that should be getting locked onto aren't, or even worse, you aim at someone and pull left trigger to get an accurate shot and suddenly find yourself flipped around and facing the wrong direction because you've just locked on to something behind you.
-Pop in. There's been several times I'd be crusing along and hit something visable. Then shortly after it'll appear. I drove all the way from island 2 to 3 and picked up 6 stars. I wondered why I wasn't stopped and when I went back to the bridge, the police barricade appeared.
My only complaint after playing it for a week is the $ system.
It seems earning cash is mostly pointless. For some reason they have stripped out the ability to buy properties and businesses. You cant buy cars and you can no longer modify your cars. The only things I spend money on are guns and cab fairs.
Also, what happened to flying planes and skydiving? That was fun in the San Andreas game. I guess you can't have everything, overall this game is great.
Well the city isn't huge so where would you fly a plane? Helicopters is definitely a big city thing. I also agree on the money system- why not the ability to buy houses? All my money went to the strip clubs ;)
I'm not nearly as far (JUST got my first piece) but I've noticed the same play control issues. Most of the GTA I've played has been on pc where using the FPS keys I could drive near perfectly. This is the first console version I've played for more than 5 minutes so I'm not sure if its the game or the controller. I like that driving is honed a little more but the sluggishness is kind of annoying. It's as if they tried to make a real gas pedal out of R2, but forgot the R2 part.
Camera is pretty weak, hand to hand feels like a VCR and the responsiveness around ladders and such suck. I'll wait until I've played as much as IGN to say it doesnt deserve a perfect 10 but the glory is quickly fading.
Jaquan, only heathens play such a violent game so much.
;)
The most hard core gamer may not be a heathen, but the greatest heathen is probably a gamer. :)
Alright Nietzsche.
You Probably have but on which console and what thoughts do you have, i should be gettin it this month.
ahem. a thread already exists.
gerbick, i know there is already one but that started at the start of last year, and it does not ask if you have gta4, it has not got a poll so it is similar, on the subject of gta4 but it is not the same.
everyone that has gta has posted that they have gta in that thread, so it cuts out the need for a poll
no need for a poll when people are talking about the game in that thread already.Quote:

2 skits in one episode. We just need espn to cover world tourny's and I'd say gaming has arrived.

god d*mn SNL sucks. How is it even on the air anymore?
I came really close to buying a 360 this weekend, but just couldn't justify it with summer so close...the only real reason to buy one for me is for GTA IV. So i think i'm going to wait until fall. Stupid maturity and sense getting in my way.
Those skits sucked so bad. What happened to that show? That kid who played the convict is SO bad.
SNL has always gone through phases of bad casting...and it survives, but I swear right now the cast is probably the worst in history, the show could be in serious jeopardy.
I can't play this game until my last uni assessment is finished...on june 13.

It's been worse. Just prior to Will Farrel there was actually talk of pulling it. New cast members always take getting used to. The links I posted in the favorite video thread to Fred Armisans political comic is one of the funniest bits (the 2nd half of each anyway) I've seen in a looong time.
Just finished it (well the main story line anyways). Few things I want to mention and I'll keep this spoiler free:
- The story itself only takes up 65%-70% of the total progress, so use that to determine how close you are to finishing.
- I have never before felt so emotionally attached to characters in a game before, and I credit that to the freedom rockstar gives you to choose who you get close to and what you do. You're not just being led down a path with your hand being held so you don't miss anything.
- Don't bother watching the credits. They scroll for over fifteen minutes and there's no reward or bonus at the end. The game keeps going after the credits so don't worry if you haven't finished the side quests.
- The game gets progressively better as it goes along, leading right up to the amazing final hour of the game. If you're one to not finish GTA games in the past (like me) make sure you finish this one.
- The driving gets easier as you get used to it. It's not quite as broken as it feels in the beginning.
- Although I'm not completely sure of this, I think their may be 2 endings. I had assumed that all paths would lead to the same conclusion, but a phone call I got after the credits made me think differently.
Also, something I came across, on the third island (Alderny) in the north east corner there's a boarded up mansion (you may have been here on a mission). You can find it by looking for the 3 roads that splinter off in different directions. Beside the mansion there is a garage. Look behind the garage and you'll find a car in the bushes. It's a souped up street racer.
Another interesting find, take the helicopter to the statue of liberty (happiness?) and hop out on the top tier of the statue, around it's feet. There's four doors. You can go in one. Go in to find something..... weird.
gShock sitting waving to people? lolQuote:

Are there any video or vga inputs? There are also video capture boxes, but I can't guarantee great results.
