i was able to get it from my local blockbuster last night - 360 version, no problems. It was surprising actually, there was hardly anybody there! I was expecting a huge line, but there were only about 5 of us waiting. They had tons of copies available...not just for those who preordered. Funny because I've been hearing reports of places where lines are huge..people waiting for hours, people getting mugged etc....
Played it for 3 hours last night till I had to go to bed, it's great so far. I'm taking off work today. Pathetic I know.

Bah. Strolled into the local Target at around lunchtime and they had a bajillion copies, including the lockbox.
Read a book called Jennifer Government. Rockstar will probably launch a similar marketing campaign with GTA V.
Well how is it suckers?
So far so good.
The physics and the gunplay are awesome improvements. The driving seems to be really touchy though, and it's a lot harder to fly around corners than in previous versions.
I jumped online and played some Cops and Robbers with some friends, that was pretty sweet too. There are over 10 different multiplayer modes to choose from so it should stay pretty fresh.
The biggest improvement is the amount of detail put into everything. I was walking down the street and I saw I guy reading a news paper. It began to rain and I saw him put the paper over his head and run off. There's an internet cafe where you can browse the in-game internet. I don't know how many sites they built into it, I clicked browsed through for about 10 minutes then left. I have yet to notice any two citizens that look the same.
As was mentioned the driving controls are a little tough to work with, but it's still fine. Now if you hit a stationary object head-on at a high speed (like a tree or a wall) you are actually thrown through the front windshield. I haven't gotten too far in the main missions game yet.
They have a TV in the place you stay at, I think I watched it for about a half hour straight. I watched about 10 minutes of a Kat Williams comedy show and a bunch of a show starring Bas Rutten. It was hilarious.
They have Katt Williams on tv? I seriously need to get this game...

I just got it yesterday and at first I thought I wasn't going to like it because the first half-hour or so was deathly boring. Then as I got used to it there are some great roof-top chases and I thought it was a nice addition that almost every building rooftop can be reached if you look hard enough. The physics are much better in this one and the whole game feels alot more realistic now (I saw a guy lean out his window to whistle to a nearby woman, crash into a car in front and the guys both got and and argued). The one thing that really annoyed me is the lack of local multiplayer, if it's in there then I can't find it and I was looking forward to playing with my friends at my house. (Only one other of my mates has a PS3 and he doesn't care much for GTA).
Overall its great but I would only give it a 9/10. Definitely not 100% perfect as IGN said but still the best game i've played in ages. :)
I love the game so far, the more you play the better it gets. I haven't even seen the main, manhatten island yet.
Best part of the game so far for me is the dialogue between characters, it's so hilarious. The main character is awesome. He is fully fleshed out...so much better than the previous characters.
There is so much detail...as Poon said you hardly ever see the same character twice. Transitions between cutscenes and gameplay are smooth. Driving is more realistic, you can see your character move around in the car when you crash into something. Car damage is more realistic. Explosions kick major ass. You can interact with many objects....for example I took a dumpster and pushed it down a road into a busy intersection, causing an major accident. You can push people down stairs and they tumble down with ragdoll physics.
If you kick someone's ass, they will walk off limping when they give up. I was beating a guy up in an alley and then ran into the street, him chasing after me. He punched me in front of a cop and the cop went after him and I walked away innocent.
Best quote... i was walking down the street and this fat cop was chasing a dude and he yelled, "Oh great i let another one get away, the fat jokes will never stop now."

They ease you into the controls which does make the first little while a bit meh - but after about 10% it starts getting wicked!
Stayed up till 3 playing it last night. Spent the whole day today promising myself an early night. It's now 2.48 and I've just stopped playing again! Bye bye social life for the next month or two
