Dont blindly believe something that has been affected by someones (without a doubt) beliefs, experiences, and "filters"....
I dont base ANY of my responses from people I have met (per say)..although they have had influence when I saw a pattern in thinking/acting.
I am catholic..(I guess) born, baptised and rasied...went to catholic school for MANY years...(heck..I was even an alter boy for afew years).. however when I got older..and could asses the things fed to me...and compare to my life experiences to what my "fed" reality was.. they didnt match up. I guess its just me.. wheather or not in the end I agree with outcome/ideaology..I can NOT just blindly follow...to me that is the problem.
Please dont say I dont consider other opinions..because thats just NOT true...not only do I appreciate others ideas/opinions (for the most part).. I NEED them. I need them to test my own theories... to see a view point that I may not have considered......in the end.. I either find a FLAW (for me)..or I am big enough to receed my opinions...and say good point..never thought of it like that.
In the end..if THEY feel liek church/jesus/being a believer is the best for them...then it is... but dont go pushing "the bible has all the answers" on the rest of us... the bible may have all the answer for YOU... so sure many things can be and ARE a crutch..even the bible. ;)
j.manfogle, doesn't it bother you that the gospels all contradict themselves when it comes to the resurrection?
If God is perfect and the Bible is the perfect word of God with all the answers then shouldn't it at least agree with itself?

Of course, other religions teach that you'll go to hell or at least not heaven if you don't do what that religion says to save yourself. The unique thing about Christianity is that it isn't up to the person to save themself by doing good deeds, sacrificing to idols, killing infidels, or other things that some religions require for salvation. Chrisitians are saved because Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for their sins. (Sorry, that last sentence sounds terribly cliche.)Quote:
