Hahahaha...concept is king, so to speak. If your image happens to touch upon what is currently considered to be 'in vogue' then yeah, that might garner you a few more votes. Simple emotional response plays a part as well, though. If your entry is impactful by way of it's imagery or message I think that's going to sway people also.
