mag, I really like the last 2.... that's really cool!
And I also like what you did to your sig. XD
I reallyreallyreally love the last one, the angel... only complaint is that the pants look way too jagged on the edges... smooth that out, like the rest, and then add some more lighting. awesome, dude!
About photography, me and the forums... well I'm too lazy to size down the pics XD but yeah, I'm gonna redo my site and then I'll have a big part dedicated to photography, and IM ON VACATION NOW WOOT WOOT!! soooo you'll prolly be able to expect some changes soon, I HOPE!!
anyway... In art, working on a self-portrait. I'ts about 1/2 way done, though... In prismacolors, of course! :D
I'm also going to start workingo n an animation very shortyl for my school's film festival, so I might also post developments with that as well :D
I did this for my battle against Pointguard, I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out, so I thought Id post a higer res version of it up here.

I dont know if pointguard is a girl or not, but its also kinda "dont tread on me" thing :P

Happy New Year's, everyone :D
Natsia, wow your snake lady's scary!
Arikb, congrats on the Prismas! yayyy!
May I suggest some stuff?
Consider buying a blending stick or 2 or 3 or 10... they're like a clear pencil that you rub on hard (pc 1077, "colorless blender" also by Prismacolor) annd they mesh all your colors together!
Try layering a buncha different colors... don't be scared to press hard and get dark tones!
You can also blend with the white pencil as well. :D
Good luck with those and practice lots!
hey man, thanks for the advice. so, do you get that smooth effect with the blending sticks?
Camel hair smudge sticks are good for graphite pencil. They're cheap and you can get them at any good art supply shop. Another hint is to use good quality pencils when you are doing colour, the better ones are usually water colours, the lead is softer and is easier to use when you're layering colours.
I dont like using them too much unless its with chalk pastels.
Too much blending on pencil drawings can rob them of thier depth.
yeah, the colorless blending sticks for Prismacolors (because they are a prismacolor pencil themselves) make everything blended AFTER drawing it.
you can still go over and add some details, like defining lines and hairs and stuff, but you can't really draw too much over them without getting everything waxy-looking.
I agree, too m uch graphite blending does loes depth! Actually I don't even blend my graphite works (unless the areas are super-light) because it ruins the crispness and definition, but that's just me!

No blending sticks yet

cool cool, lookin better! :D getting used to color, I see... now try blending diferent types of blues and perhaps browns with the colors on the shoes... Indigo Blue makes a terrific almost-black shade, but without being too harsh. What size set did you get? just try mixing colors more, don't be afraid to experiment with them, because that's the only way to learn about them. :D
thanks for the advise. Next time i'll try to mix more colors :)
what are you talking about?Quote:
What size set did you get?
Very Cool arkib,
The only advice I can give you is: when you've done prelim lines for a drawing, start your shading from the background of the drawing forward.
The reason for doing it that way : when you use pencil and start in the foreground of an image, the pressure you apply to your strokes is pretty much even right throughout, which means that a lot of the depth is lost. Starting in the back will help you (as the person drawing) see the depth, prespective and proper understanding of tone, light and shadow which will come across in the final image.
I think I'd like to see you using more shading techniques, they help with the above meantioned aswell.
Very nice drawing man. Keep them comming
