Check both versions, hopefully the mac version plays much smoother for you as well. At the current end of the thread, I posted how I achieved the smoothness.
This doesn't help the player, but it is a good way to speed up your mac movies. The technique also works on pc's -- it actually looks better in netscape than it does in ie on the pc. Hope it helps!

How can Mike Chambers not even be aware of the Mac problem if he has two macs??? That is Bizarre!!
Without doubt there is a serious performance issue, ESPECIALLY on duplicated MC's.

The performance of the flash player on Mac has forced me to
a) Buy a PC.
b) Start to hate my Macs.
I think this petition would be better acted upon if it were sent to Apple, at least then they might take some serious issues with Macromedia, especially when they consider that I now recommend to everyone to buy a PC as macs CAN NOT PERFORM.
Think about it Macromedia, or is that Micro(soft)media???

The macs at my college, not sure what the processor, but there is 1.5 gis of ram and 150+ gigs of storage and they are the last release of the Quicksilver. Well, they play flash movies very fast, so I'm thinking it varies by system performace. A test of my new site tested much better on those than my own, not once did it hesitate or slow down as i clicked mutilple buttons over and over again.

I'm still getting files which won't play on a Mac if I export as Flash 6.
The g4 i use which is much, much faster than my ancient 400mhz computer plays everything slower. Everything. There is no specific example I could give you. "Everything" goes slower than my 400mhz computer.
The only thing that I can think of is DirectX outperforming whatever you've programmed to use with the mac?
I have a pc but I use macs all the time for school and I've seen the major difference in performance. It's rediculous. I'm in!

It's been a constant problem and having to explain to clients *why* everything runs slower on my Mac is a daily event.
