one thing i like to remember is that pre 911 the bush admin, was looking to become less involved in world affairs. Approach in a more hands-off, let our dollars speak, than the clinton's more hands-on approach. And the general fall out of .... dubious... actions during the cold war.

as far as other loopholes, well internally the gov, not just the current executive admin, is constantly looking at ways to do away with that pesky bill of rights.

Right to bear arms... gone
Right to personal property.. edited.
Right to free speach....gone (although the NRA is fighting it)

When i say free speach I'm speaking about the right to say or buy air time to say "hey this guy sucks". not the right to cover yourself in penut butter, wear a diaper and spank your self on prime time t.v.

perhaps the constitution should be changed so that the right to free speach reads "the right to sue anyone who exercises the right to free speach".

That's what I don't get about American politics - what kind of a inalienable right is the right to BUY the opportunity to express your freedom of speech ? I guess poor people are **** out of luck there then.

Not necessarily. There is an extremely large percentage of the Cuban population who blame Castro for their economic woes. Thats why thousands upon thousands have fled to the US and set up base in Miami. These people HATE Castro with all their heart...and they all vote vote for the Republican's who are more hard line with the Castro regime.

Right-wingers can always count on the vote from the Cuban Americans.

thousands upon thousands is not a large percentage of the millions of peope who live happily in Cuba, cursing the US for keeping on interfering in their lives for more tha 30 years. Dayum, talk about holding a grudge.

well you don't have to pay anything to vote. Just show up.
And you can express your freedom of speech in anyway. You just can't barge into someone's radio or tv station and take there personal property and use it for yourself. You can't break into a private newspaper adn demand that they print what you want them to. You can start your own newspaper etc. But those are personal private property. Adn freedom of speech does not override an individuals right to personal property.

and yes poor people are **** out of luck. Being born into poverty is gods way to saying... well just read the top line of my sig.

How is the U.S. interfering in their lives? if anything the U.S. is totally and completetly staying out of their lives. To bad they themsevles can't do anything with it.

ehm... after the little "incident" involving the only two nuclear bombs ever dropped on innocent people of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, i think the US govt have to step around any issue about Japan rather lightly or else the Japanese govt will use that event and call USA "cowardly terrorist" :D

Japan aren't allowed by USA to have an army and instead a portion of US army is stationed in parts of Japan... i dunno about you but that sounds like an occupation on sovereign country to me... war is over, US doesn't have the rights to station troops in any country...Anyone in the USA ever heard about certain atrocities done by the US soldiers over in japan? that wouldn't need to happen if America weren't so arrogant...

Japan has a small army/airforce, and navy, much like germany. And yes there have been numerous cases of rape agianst U.S. soldiers. Then there are numerous cases of rape agianst Japanese executives to.

'Kyoto' isn't referring to Japan per se. It is referring to the Kyoto environmental treaty which every other country on the planet signed last year, then they booed the US delegate as he refused to. Something to do with GWB's oil producing buddies perchance?

Yes they have a small force but it's not army... they call it special defence force... which is a pathetic attempt in saving wat little honor left from being told can't have have an army... and u can't compare rapes by US soldier in japan soil with rapes by japanese executive... it's like me comparing rape by chinese soldier in america with rape by an american priest in america... it's irrelevant... rapes always happened (sadly) in any countries but in this case US soldiers shouldn't be there in the 1st place...

well this is going to sound like some crazy crap. But I believe once a war starts there can be no crime. War itself is a crime. I suspect anything that tries to legitimize war. So if there are crimes or war, then some things of war must be o.k.????

And both of the atomic bombs did less damage than the conventional bombing of tokyo. For that matter what qualifies as a weapon of mass distruction?

What did the U.S. want from china?

as far as this whole oil BS, if the u.s. was really driven by oil, the u.s. would be making very very friendly with Iran. Iran has one of the largest untapped oil fields in the world. But The u.s. gov did not allow american companies from investing and bidding on the contract to drill and sell it. The U.S. gov maintianed an embargo that would have allowed the U.S. to tell saudi and a great many other countries to piss off. The U.S. can also drill oil out of alaska to last until we do not need oil.

At the end of the day, there would not be so much trouble if Bush admin had not supported Isreal so strongly and have the decency to admit wrong doings. And stop being so aggorant towards other countries for example I remember a summit meeting a couple of months ago to talk about pollution and globalisation, all countries agreed to cut down on pollution production. USA did not bother to turn up and in the nicest way possible said "**** off" to the other countries. That is one of the many reasons why there are a lot of resentments.
