Why Flashkit , ....Tell us your story..

eh hem....!!

the story began when I was tasked to come up with
a "different" website which would identify with
the company's "corporate brand" (u know the usual
terms used by marketing lads 'n' lasses)...so this marketing guy
then introduced me to his highly IT enthusiatic friend of
his who happened to be always going on about this animal called Flash.

(to be honest, i abhorred the use of animations 'n' sound
'n' all that to "choke" the poor bandwidth...!! so this
blabbering fella was a pity to meself)

then the fella told me about

www.2advanced.com

I viewed the pages with doubt and conservative ignorance.
If i did say sumthin' at the moment I saw widegroup.net,
it was

"....!!!!"

then

"d a y u m!!!"
"d a y u m!!!"
"d a y u m!!"

was all I could say after that.next thing I was singing
choruses about the websites and showing off the fact that
I knew them.I returned with an awed face to the fella
who'd been a blabber mouth previously.He told me about
Flashkit, and next thing was that this here fella was hooked.

I also went to the coffee lounge for the first time quite recently
'n' caused a bit o' a controversial stir....lol!!! (shant say more!)

I found flashkit while searching for tutorials for Flash MX.
The people that sacrifice/invest their time, energy, thought and soul in order to provide us all with this fantastic community deserve a big salute! Thank you all.

I am trying to learn to use Flash MX for Web Site Development, and find this place an invaluable resource.

i remember reading about swish 1.5 in a magazine. i visited swishzone to download the program and to click on the link to flashkit. i think my first question here was one of these typical faq's. thinking about it, i was lucky that nobody yelled at me, like "SEARCH THE FORUMS!" etc.

there were many nice people at swish help, so i started to spend lots of time there, 10% helping, 90% struggling with mysql. big applause for jstarkey and his crew for fixing things and keeping this place up and running so smoothly!

I was introduced to flashkit a while back after doing a google on Flash. I found this site. I found a couple of tuts. I lost the link to the site. But i was hooked on flash i could remeber the words FLASH it so then a did a whole heap of googles of worrds like flash hit, flash wit and so onuntil i tried flash kit and bang im back. I dont post much on the forums but i come here everyday and read on he forums and watch the arena battles.

FK is awesome.

i first came here looking for sound loops for a project, then got hooked on the discussions, esp board room, CL, and help. i got a lot of great advice too on projects i was developing. my first post (a review):

now i hang out mostly in the board room, but still wander into the CL and help areas here and there.

I don't recall how I got here, but it was likely that I was struggling with something, did a search and found flashkit. It's very helpful. I suck at flash, but when I need help, I come here. When I finally learn something, I like to give back and share it with other fellow strugglers.

Someday, if I ever have enough time, patience and brain cells, I will try to become more proficient at flash (mx). I have no idea how everybody does such amazing and elaborate things with flash. I'm totally baffled by the program, and the best I can do is struggle with it to make simple moving things.

That was about a few years ago.
Although I haven't posted a message here for about 3 years or so, I still come in here and there to see what's new in the flash world...

When I first came, the site was kinda still small.
Nothing of these new stuff. No MyFK or other stuff.

I think I found Flashkit when I was looking for help on Javascript and Flash. I didn't get much in the end, but then I started helping others on the forum that had the same problems as me.

Then I posted in every forum where to download Flash 5 with it's crack... I was banned for a month... I couldn't wait, so I made a new name - From Shin to MasterShin

Oh my oh my, how long it has been since the beginning of it all. Flashkit was an ADDICTION for the longest time. Between doing flash, giving and receiving help, and the lounge, there were not enough hours in the day. Aria, Enigma, Markp, Dowenger, Razor, JEZZA!, Mr. Fennel himself, the POPE, and yes you too GMF.... I know i'm missing so many of the people that were part of this great beginning and im glad to see how far flashkit has grown. You should've seen it at times. The forums would die every hour, and we'd all be up in mark's face about it :). I came here initially trying to give help to others. I quickly found many friends and am even still talking to some still. Boy, it has been a looong time. There have been many threads, both helpful, both not so helpful, but all great times. Most of you out there probably don't care to read any of this or even know/remember who I may be, but that's what happens when you dissapear for years huh? :) I still hold a dear place in my heart for those days and I wish you all have as wonderful a time as I did here at flashkit.

when i was 13 i was watching a brooke sheilds show and then i just taught of searching for a good site in google and this site came out.....It was good at first but now its got too many advertizements....
by the way now im 16

I would have to say this was prob. one of the only things I got out of my education at FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY. During one of my "graphic design" classes, before I had ever touched into web work, I looked across the room, and some professor was writting: www.flashkit.com on the large dry-erase board in red pen. Ah, I remember so clearly, I wrote it down, and started asking. I used to e-mail my friend also, all the time who a flash guru, and ask him hours of questions about Flash, and finally he directed me to FK, also. Thanks FK, your the best since sliced bread!

I was first introduced to this site in 2000 by a university pal of mine. She told me that basically "everything" I needed for flash could pretty much be found here. She was right.

Since then I haven't stopped coming back. Whether it be to run around the forums reviewing sites or picking up some top quality sound loops or flash files.

The site has grown so much over the past 3 years that sometimes I can't keep up! Its impressive to see that there's always help by just the click of the mouse.

I'm grateful for this site and I will continue to use it as long as my fingers can continue to type...

You guys are a credit to a student in need!!

Hi GMF and Razor.

Gee... I still remember what you look like Razor.. lol. That picture of you with your hand up to your forehead looking kinda scary :).

As of now, I abandoned the web and went searching for more in my life. I am now happily married and have 3 kids and am... ok just kidding! I'm actually putting myself through university (I've racked up about $100k US in scholarships for school) and have looked at other parts of the world for inspiration. I am currently studying Computer Science and Mathematics, with a bit of Digital Media and some Mass Communications in there somewhere. I actually came back here to flashkit so see how i did something.. hahah. I uploaded a flashtyper fla for a competition and I won :) Too bad Mark Fennel never sent me my FK Tshirt!!! Blah.. i didn't care too much about it back then, but now I kinda really want it. lol. Any chance of me getting one now???? :)

I shall try to be around here once again. As undoubtedly I am way behind in this world of webdevelopment and need as much help as I can get. I skipped flash 5 pretty much completely and have recently picked up a copy for flashmx at school.

Hey! I've been reading your posts. Many don't make any sense to me, but then again, I am still fairly new, and I have been off for a couple of months, doing stuff at school. School sort of stuff at school. But what has been said in this thread, has really inspired me to take up my mouse again, and start drawing some more flash movies/games/sites/ads/general entertainment/I’m taking this to far, aren't i? /i know I am/ok, I’ll stop here/yes. Here.
Ok. I’ve done for now. I’m off to do my homework, and start SWiSH again, after all these months (has it really been that long?), and I look forward to having as many posts in the future as you do now, the posts being funny and/or witty, as well as helpful. Oh yeah. I'm currently working on my site, and plan to have it up in the next few months. Done entirely in flash, of course.

I came here in the very early days to download some source files and decided i would check out the Forums, from then on i was hooked in on a daily basis by the community spirit and the people behind the usernames and ive been here ever since!

Why FlashKit? Because along time ago it was the place to be and the place to get your questions answered, still is i guess, its also very rewarding helping others, and in those days and more so now there are tonnes of questions to answer and lots of people to satisfy.

I'm really amazed with all of you telling how did you get here at Flashkit...
And all I can say is that it is a strong community and people love this place...
I remember when I had true friends from all of the world when I played "Worms 2 Roper"...
That was amazing, and I can remember the feeling of being envolved with a community...

Great to see some of these names again, and the little reminders like the board dying every frigging hour, and hundreds of people being very very helpful and letting me know about it!

Those were the days of 1000 emails a day, and dammit i answered every one of them!

I think perhaps a little history of FK is in order, maybe ill put something up on my site one day.

I not sure if any of the original fk shirts are around, maybe ill put mine on Ebay, along with Dan the cow :D
