We are progresing nicely, thanks's to Mark;s announcement. :)
fair huge team! from what i've seen, we are doing better than the majority of other teams :) we've got the potential, we haven't been round long and we're catchin the big teams. It'll be a good boost when all the people running this as a screensaver upload their first work unit, we should make 1000 this month easily :)
i've written to them and asked for better statistics to be displayed on how well teams are going comparitively so we can see who's arses we are whooping
I can't post new stats yet, baceuse of the times that they update them on our page.
Also, about the time that we suddenly lost all points for abut a day, tihs was a problem that they fixed in May, and it just resurfaced. What happened, was that the connection to the stats server was reset during update time.
I'm currently 95% done with my third unit, and there's a total of 11 hits in this one!
I might be the one finding the cure! :D
Maybe so, maybe so... :)Quote:

well done everyone. good man hobbi for starting this!!!
Well, so far I have two done, working on a third. My second one was at 90% and my computer crashed. Guess that's what I get for clocking a 733 PIII to 900 with a retail heatsink/fan! Oh well, she's sitting just fine at 800 now. This is cool, I had an aunt die of pancreatic(sp?) cancer a few years back so hopefully this can all help. I have one question though, does everyone get unique tasks or do we all get the same ones?
Mike
EVeryone get's unique tasks. This way things go much faster. And since the program is doing the actual research, the results are the same, no matter what computer you are using, it just takes more/less time.
Would of liked to help but alas there is no mac version for download.
:(

great use of cpu power. consider my 1ghz 256k part of team flashkit.
hopefully there'll be a mac version soon. Thanx for the support anyway :) SonOfaLightBulb that's a beast of a computer, it'll definately be a help!

we have exceeded a year's CPU time :D keep signing up people and downloading!
anyone know if the UD Agent has just one basic operating level, or if it can be setup to run faster, even if it does use a little more of my systems resources.
While i'm on the subject, on the device information panel, it says that i have only 1Gig of storage, but i know for a fact that i haven't filled the other 29Gigs already. Any ideas what this could be? I have already tried tinkering with the settings, but without improvment.
The 1 gig of storage is so that the pc can keep that much of processed data on your hdd. The UD agent select the lesser of the toatl available disk space, or 1 gig, by default. to change these settings, click the "max storage profile" from the window with the device optins. these will update the next time that you connect to the server.Quote:

as for making it faster, you can set it at a higher priority - allocating more system resources but the program is designed to run off free resources, so UD doesn't recommend it. A noble thought though :)
The stats section has been updated. they show much more info now
Top ranking country (all stats)---US
Our Team rank (members)-- 127
Our team rank (results returned)--699
Our team rank (CPU Time)-- Not in top 1000 (but will be soon)
Our team rank (points)-- Not in top 1000 (but will be soon)
We are a new team so I think we will move to the top real quick. Our member ranking is high.
these stats are much better! now we have some targets. we are doing fairly well, we will catch up very soon :) we need to keep recruiting and start kickin some team's arses
keep downloading the program and signing up for team FK if you wish.
our stats:
members:78
work units:1355
points:96,273

congratulations on everyone's effort and keep going!
We're getting there!
a quick question to really get momentum going...
--> do we have any network admins in the audience? how about puting UD on your office/company/college/school/whatever network.
How much power can we get together here folks?
75% finished my 3rd task, total 2 hits so far.

Wow, we are getting a lot of members signing up, and we will be passing the two year mark in a few days. When we had 5 members... :)
Keep signing up people, it's for a good cause.
that's a great idea!! I have tried to secretly install it on my school network, but it keeps mucking up after the computers restart, i'll keep trying til it either works or i'm busted :DQuote:

Well, that's a happy thought. :DQuote:

Well, if you do get busted, you'll probably get a slap on the wrist since its for a good cause, and not for personal gain. You could try asking the Network admin too. Fair enough, that does kinda take some of the fun out of it, but a positive answer would make up for that, i think you'll agree.Quote:

I should be going back to college in september( fingers crossed), and if i get in, there's a very good chance i'll be able to talk the labs technician round to our side.
how does 300 PIII machines sound to you hobbi?
:)
we have broken into the top 1000 for CPU time. we are at 956
Also at 624 for results returned. Movin up.
oh, 300 PIII machines, that might make a little difference maybe - but not much :DQuote:

so keep downloading and signing upfor team flashkit - WE NEED YOU
if you have any questions about this or comments or suggestions please post it here or email me or check out their website
thanx to everyone for all your great efforts, let's show everyone what team fk is made of :D
Ok I've been trying to sign for awhile now up but the site keeps telling me its busy, is anyone else getting that?
Ok finally is up and running.....go team flash kit :)
[Edited by credo on 07-03-2001 at 12:25 AM]
yeah it had an overload on the servers for a while, but it's all good now :) thanx for signing up
I've done more than just sign up, I am getting another message board I usually frequent onto it as well, so unfortunately I have started another team and cant be in this one as well.
3 members so far.. oh well its a start.http://www.tpww.net/ubb/icons/icon14.gif
look at them go there. who were the first few hobbi? I know you, me and juels were but who else ???
credo - thanx mate, it doesn't matter in the end it's all for a good cause :D
the first few... um me, you, juels, metamorphisis, kb1827, freyacat and trakker
that's it i think. we've gone from just a few members to 83 :D i didn't think it'd take off this well, we've got a shot at the top spot - the number 1 team :D i reckon we can do it, we're very quickly progressing
juels - there'll be an update soon that will make life easier for you - you will be able to download and upload multiple work units at once, you must be breezing through the work units!! it will mean you can spend more time offline, unless of course you have a 24/7 connection then it won't matter. it'll be good for anyone who isn't always on the internet - it'll be good for me caus i'm on dialup :)
Hi folks
Just thought I'd take advantage of this precious opportunity to gloat about making it into the top 5 in the Team Flashkit list :-)
I've only got a couple of Pentium III's running the UD client, and so I'm not earning a lot of points, but if I can make the top 5 surely you 'power users' out there can!
Go team!
Cheers
MPower (the Flashkit lurker extraordinaire!)
This is an outstanding idea. I am 20 years old and was recently diagnosed with cancer, and just knowing there are so many others going through this retched disease is hard to take. Anything and anyone helping the cause is worth trying, right? I am one of the webmaster's at a private university in Midwest America. I will try and get UD on every machine I can get my hands on. Hopefully one day, no one will have to know the feeling of coming to grips with their own mortality.
Kudos to you all.
24 hours later, we have 12 members, were on our way :)
people are really getting behind this, its good to see.
Especially when you use the Seti project as an example.
500,000 years of computing time in a year and a half is nothing to sniff at.
I'm currently E-mailing the idea to everyone I know.
I've said it before but I'll say it again. big respect to hoobi for this thread and big respect to Juels who's taking on the world single handedly
got a whole office full of g3, g4s and imacs. I'd put them all to work if only we could.
nice to see flaskit board emaisl working again :D
time to start houndong them for cross platform versions.
regards
beng
MPower - u don't have the right to gloat caus u kicked me out of the top 5 :( only kiddin hehe :p well done, i'll catch up to ya and pass ya soon :D
Tknaff1 - i'm sorry to hear you are diagnosed with cancer, i hope you recover very quickly from it :) and that would be a great idea if you can get as many uni comps running as possible
RazoR - i don't deserve ne credit... but thanx neway :) i just put the idea forward and everyone here was so good about it and went for it - kudos 2 you for emailing mark bout it and kudos to mark for putting it on the front page :)
we are at position 549 in the results returned, last week we weren't even in the top 1000!! so we will break the top 500 soon, and if we keep at this will make top 100 soon enough :D
kudos to everyone who is doing this, and spreading the word. put a link to this thread in your footers if you like :) Great stuff Juels and Razor who are leading the pack and whipping our arses :)
